Maddox POV

The ringing of my phone woke me up.

I groaned, turned to my right, and felt around the nightstand until I found my phone.

“What?” I answered as I picked up the call.

“Your mother and I are here.” I heard the voice I hated. “Where are you?”

I opened my eyes and sat up abruptly.

I looked to my left and saw my brother and sister sleeping peacefully.

“We will be right there.” I mumbled and hung up.

I reached over Maddie and shook Milo’s shoulder. He groaned and turned his head the other way.

“Milo.” I called him quietly. “Wake up.”

“No.” he mumbled, trying to turn to his side.

I didn’t let him.

“Wake up.” I said. “Our parents are here.”

Milo opened his eyes and looked up at me.

“What?” he mumbled.

“Our fucking parents are here.” I repeated.

Anger flashed in Milo’s eyes. He sat up and looked at Maddie, who was still sleeping peacefully.

“What should we do with her?” he asked.

I sighed and shook Maddie’s shoulder.

I needed to tell her not to leave the room, no matter what.

Unlike Milo, Maddie woke up immediately. She looked up at me with panic written all over her face. It disappeared, and it was replaced with relief when she realized it was me.

Anger washed over me. I could only imagine why she was so panicked when I woke her up.

“Hey, Mads.” I said softly. “Milo and I need to go downstairs to talk to our parents. I need you to promise me that you won’t leave the room no matter what.”

The panicked look returned. She sat up, keeping her eyes on me.

“They are here?” she mumbled.

“Yes.” I nodded. “Milo and I will deal with them.”

Milo turned around and opened the nightstand drawer. He pulled out a pair of headphones.

“Look, love.” Milo said as he handed them to her. “Put on some music and don’t leave the room until Max and I come back.”

He handed her his phone, and she took it from him. I could see her hands shaking.

“Don’t be afraid.” I said as I pulled her to me. “We won’t let them hurt you. I promise. They are here so we can kick them out.”

Milo leaned in to kiss her cheek before he jumped out of bed and put his sneakers on.

I kissed the top of her head and stood up.

She looked so scared. I wanted to comfort her, but I didn’t have time now. I would do it later. Milo and I really needed to go talk to the bastards.

“Put them on.” I told her, pointing at the headphones in her lap.

She did what I said. I watched as she unlocked the phone and opened YouTube.

I put my sneakers on and walked toward the bedroom door.

I glanced at Maddie one more time. She laid back down and pulled the cover over her head.

My heart clenched.

“She will be okay.” Milo said quietly. “Let’s go deal with them. I want them out of our house.”

I nodded and opened the bedroom door.

Milo and I walked outside. I had to force myself to close the door. I had to force myself to walk away. I didn’t want to leave her.

I knocked on the bedroom door next to hers. I knew that Sam was in there. Milo did the same on the door on the other side of her bedroom.

The door opened, and Sam stepped outside.

“Is she okay?” he asked worriedly.

“Yes.” I said. “My parents are here.”

Anger flashed in Sam’s eyes. He closed the door and started walking toward the stairs. I rushed after him. I heard Milo and Ryan walking behind us.

We walked downstairs, and I saw the two people I so badly wanted to kill. They were sitting on the couch and scrolling through their phones.

They looked up as soon as they heard us coming.

“Who is Madeline Adams?” I asked immediately.

I wanted to get it over with. I wanted them out of my house.

Their eyes widened.

“You found the death certificate?” my mother asked.

I chuckled darkly.

“No.” Milo said. “We found the girl.”

My parents narrowed their eyes at us.

“What are you talking about?” my father asked. “She is dead.”

“Tell that to the girl upstairs whose DNA matches Max and Milo’s.” Sam said.

“What?!” my father screamed as he stood up abruptly. “There is a girl upstairs?!”

I clenched my fists. Milo grabbed my arm.

“Sit the fuck down.” I said angrily. “You are not going upstairs. You are not going anywhere near her.”

My father tightened his jaw and narrowed his eyes at me.

“Why are you defending a stranger?” he asked angrily. “Why did you bring that girl into my house?”

I chuckled and shook my head.

“Number one, this isn’t your house.” I said. “It’s mine, Milo’s, and Maddie’s. You will be moving out after we finish this conversation. Number two, she isn’t a stranger. She is my sister, whom you two tried to kill.”

My father laughed.

“Is that what she said?” he asked as he sat back down. “I didn’t raise you to believe in some girl’s made-up stories.”

I saw fucking red.

I was going to kill him.

Sam grabbed me and pinned me to his chest.

Ryan did the same with Milo.

“I would watch my mouth if I were you, Jeffrey.” Ryan said. “You are a lawyer. You know what happens to people who fake someone’s death and leave their child on the side of the road.”

My father narrowed his eyes. My mother gasped quietly.

“Oh, yes, she remembers everything.” Sam said, tightening his arms around me.

I was shaking. I was going to kill him.

“Why did you do it?” Milo asked, gritting his teeth. “Why did you take her from us? Why did you just leave her like that? She is your daughter!”

“She is not my daughter.” my mother spoke for the first time. “I could never be so weak to give birth to a girl.”

What?

Was she fucking serious?!

I was too fucking shocked to even speak.

“Get the fuck out of my house.” Milo said quietly.

I didn’t even recognize his voice.

“I will see you in fucking court.” Milo continued. “Both of you are going to jail.”

My father laughed.

“You can’t kick us out.” he said, looking at Milo with a smirk on his face.

“Yes, they can.” Ryan said. “This is their house. Get the fuck out. We will see you in court.”

My parents remained seated. Both of them were smirking at us.

“Do you want us to let Max and Milo go?” Sam sighed. “They will punch the living shit out of both of you, I can promise that. You took their triplet from them. They aren’t happy.”

Sam was right. The only reason I wasn’t punching that stupid smirk off my father’s face was because Sam was holding me. I knew it was the same with Milo.

“Get out.” Milo repeated. “Now.”

“She doesn’t belong here.” my father said. “You will see it soon.”

I saw fucking red. I tried to get out of Sam’s arms, but he just tightened his hold on me.

“Get the fuck out!” Sam shouted. “I will not tell you again!”

Our parents stood up and walked to the front door. Both of them had angry expressions on their faces.

“You two are my sons.” our mother said as she opened the front door. “I will accept an apology from you once you see that she is just a waste of space.”

My heart stopped.

“I AM GOING TO FUCKING KILL YOU!” Milo screamed as he got out of Ryan’s arms.

Fuck!

I was frozen. I couldn’t move.

Did she really say that about her own daughter?

Milo rushed toward our mother, who was staring at him wide-eyed.

Milo was just about to punch her, but Ryan managed to pull him back.

Our father didn’t move an inch. He didn’t even try to protect his wife.

“Get the fuck out of my house!” Milo screamed. “I don’t want to see you ever again!”

My father smirked, grabbed my mother’s arm, and pulled her out of the house.

“I am getting custody of the two of you as well.” Sam said. “I won’t let you be tied to these monsters anymore.”

Hi, guys! 😊

I have a question for you.

I think that most of you are currently reading both of my books. I wanted to ask if you would like me to take a little break from this book and finish Let them go? There aren't too many chapters left in Let them go, and I think I would be able to finish it in a week. That means that there would be no updates for Abandoned until next Wednesday.

Are you okay with the current schedule, or would you like me to finish Let them go first and continue this book in about a week? 🤔

Please keep in mind that I won't be able to make everyone happy. I will do what the majority of you would like me to do. 😊

Thank you for reading, following, voting, and commenting. I'm sending you hugs. Have a great day! ❤️
