Marcy was writing in her journal. The past month had been pretty chaotic, and all her friends had seemingly turned against each other. Each day that passed, it looked as though the divide would continue to grow but she still held hope their friendship could be repaired and everything would go back to normal.

"Come on! Move it! We have to move out today!" Captain Bog ordered.

The toads were loading up their wagons with supplies. That food needed to last them the whole trip to Newtopia. However, time was ticking, and they needed to cross the mountains before the weather closes them up.

Jacinda was sitting inside her own carriage. She called out to Captain Bog. "This is taking too long! Our army is already assembled! It may be better to march ahead and secure the mountains first! We can wait for the supply wagons to catch up with us!"

"If we do that, the supply wagons would be vulnerable," Marcy protested.

"Yes, but if any of our enemies try to takeover that mountain pass first, we'll never be able to cross it in time," Jacinda said.

It was strange seeing a newt here acting as an assistant to the head of the Southern Toad Tower. Each tower usually operated independently of the crown and could exercise that authority however they wanted. Perhaps that autonomy was one of the reasons the other towers gained enough confidence to rebel. It was definitely something Marcy would have to consider in the post war era.

Captain Bog pondered for a minute. "Agreed, alright troops! We are marching out to the mountain pass now!"

Marcy had spent the past few days mostly as an observer. Nobody really questioned her presence, likely due to King Andrias' order to keep her here.

She watched as the troops entered their formation and started marching away from the tower. It was a risky move, leaving the wagons behind but if they didn't move quickly, they would be stuck in the valley for months. Newtopia might fall during that time. It was a risk they had to take.

The army marched to the mountain pass without any issues. Despite how quiet it was, the journey was rather long due to the distance they had to travel. Once the army had occupied the mountain pass, they set up a camp and started waiting for the supply wagons to catch up.

Marcy was sitting on a log, documenting the entire journey. Hopefully, they could cross the mountains soon. She closed her notebook and looked into the woods. She thought she saw something going on in the trees. There were a lot of vultures for some reason.

Not too far away Drake stared at the toad camp through a telescope. He was sitting on a tree, trying to get a good view. The army certainly looked a lot larger than he thought. At first, he was hoping to destroy the enemy army but trying to attack their position would be a nightmare.

There was some hissing below. The snapdragons looked up at him. Most of the vultures were also on the ground, trying to avoid giving away their position. The rest were out scouting somewhere.

"They're already at the mountain pass and there's too many out there. We simply can't win if we fight, but for some reason, they're just sitting there. Are they waiting for something?" Drake said. He wasn't worried about the noise. They were too far away for the toads to hear him.

The grubhog oinked and squealed.

The vultures cawed in response.

Drake noticed the vultures were adding something to the makeshift dirt map. Drake narrowed his eyes, trying to see what they were drawing.

It looked like... boxes with wheels? No... wagons. Is that what they're waiting for? What could be in those wagons? Drake thought.

If their supplies were exposed, it was a tempting target. If they destroyed those supplies, the toads won't have much in the way of food. If there is a battle, they'll likely starve before it begins.
