Everything will be fine, whispered a voice in my head. Don't resist.

'How can I?' I wanted to say but the words were stuck in my throat. His eyes were so alluring. I fell deeper and deeper into the deep crimson pools before me. Suddenly, I didn't care if he bit me. I would let the Vampire Prince do anything. I would give him anything.

My life. My blood. I had no intention of resisting. He was so handsome, powerful, and absolutely in---

The hell he is, cut a voice through my mind. That mosquito wanted to snack on me like a personal blood bag. As if I would let him.

The thought came as a jolt. Warmth spread through my body; from the top of my head to the tips of my toes and everything in between. My hand inched off the bed. My fingers curled around a rough surface. I did the only thing I could think of, I slammed the end of my science book into his mouth.

His head snapped back. Terrified, I rolled off the bed and staggered to my feet. My breath came in pants and adrenaline rushed through my body. My mind swirled. I had just been attacked in my own home by a vampire . . .

I gasped. I needed to call the police. Spotting my cell on the floor, just where it had slipped out of my back pack, I glanced at the vampire. He was motionless and still staring at the book in his mouth. This was my chance.

I rushed to my cell phone almost in a desperate leap. I skidded to a halt. My fingers wrapped around it. My hands shook as I tried to unlock the screen. My fingers slipped. I cursed and tried again. Why couldn't I stop shaking? I wasn't afraid. So, why was my heart pounding wildly in my chest? Why were my palms sweaty and my phone kept slipping? Why?

I forced myself to stop. I closed my eyes and took deep calming breaths. Just concentrate . . . Then, my stupidity made me gag. I didn't have to open my screen. I could just push the emergency button underneath the key pad. My eyes snapped opened. My thumb hovered toward the button.

A hand clamped over my shoulder. I jumped and so did my heart.

"What the hell was that for?"

I swirled around and came face to face with the Vampire Prince. His eyes were piercing and he looked ready to choke me. His lips were set in a straight line. Angrily, I slapped his hand off my shoulder and back away warily.

"I could ask you the same question," I shot back.

My heart fluttered and catching my breath was so hard. What the heck was he doing here? And how dare he break into my house and move to feed off of me? As if I would let him get away with it. Not on my watch.

"Do you know who I am?" he asked. "Don't you recognize this godly form before your eyes? Bow to me."

I felt my eye twitch. My face burned. His arrogance had me completely speechless.

"Th- . .y .you -wha - " I stammered out.

I gritted my teeth. Calm down, calm down, calm down, CALM DOWN! The Vampire Prince pranced around in my room posing every so often. He winked at me and smiled. My hands curled at my side. My cell phone bit into my palm.

"I don't bloody care who you are!" I yelled at him. "Get out of my house right now!"

The Vampire Prince froze. "Huh?" he asked. His surprise was written all over his face.

"Don't huh, me," I said. "Get out this instance!"

I lifted my phone up and waved it. "If you're not gone in the next five seconds, I'm calling the police," I threatened.

The Vampire Prince threw back his head and laughed. Why was the room burning up? I was sweating bullets over here. What was so damn funny?! One Mississippi, two Mississippi, three Mississippi, four Mississippi, five Mississippi. . . . You time is up, you bastard.
