A/N: Thanks so much for all the support! You guys are amazing!

"I think your parents are acting weird," Sonia said.

I felt her shift on my bed but I didn't get up. Instead, I pulled my comforter over my head and snuggled deeper into my pillow.

"Rin, are you listening to me?" she asked. "Rin."

"Whaaat?" I whined out. "Why don't you let me sleep?"

"It's twelve already," Sonia said. "Get your butt up."

"No."

She pulled on the comforters but I held on tightly. "Rin," she said again. "You asked me to come, remember? That's why I am here. So, talk to me."

Sighing, I took the covers off my head. The sunlight brought tears to my eyes. Wincing, I sat up. My eyes were heavy. I didn't get an ounce of sleep last night. I kept thinking those vampires were going to come find me.

"Do you think that girl made a good copy of me?" I asked her.

Sonia looked at me. Her hair was braided and she wore some sweat pants and t-shirt. "Girl," she said. "Anybody who knows you would easily be able to tell that that girl wasn't you. Why do you ask? Do you think you're getting replaced?"

"What if I changed my name? Moved –"

"And leave me behind?" Sonia asked, "No way. Besides, you need the government's permission for that. It would take years to get a court date."

"You're right."

At my continued silence, Sonia sighed and joined me underneath the comforter. "Rin, what's going on? Did something happen? You can tell me, you know."

I clenched my jaw. If only I could. I wanted to tell her but the Prince would know and – wait of minute, since when did I care about the Prince? Granted he had the means to carry out any punishment so I couldn't risk it.

"It's . . . been hectic," I told her. "It's a lot, you know? I just wish this was over."

Sonia looked down at her hands. "Is this about Carlos?" she asked. "Is that why you can't say anything?"

Dang, she saw right through me. "No," I said. I winced at the high pitch of my voice.

She gave me a long look that said "really?" Then she sighed. "Okay," she said. "I get it. I won't ask. But you do have that with you, right?"

I glanced at my bag pack. Yeah, I had the illegal item with me. Honestly, I should have brought it with me last night but it's a good thing I didn't. Security made sure no one had any weapons or suspicious items on them before the conference. I would have gone to jail if I took the spray.

"Yeah," I told her. I cleared my throat. "So, you said my parents were acting weird?"

"Don't change the subject."

Silence.

"Yeah, they're acting weird," she said.

I nodded. It's not like I could ask them about it. They would turn around and asked me what happened last night and I wouldn't be able to tell them. I had no right to ask. Feeling my head pound, I laid back down. I just wanted everything to go away for a few moments. I didn't want to think anymore.

I felt an arm snake around my waist. Sonia pressed her forehead up against my shoulder.

"Sorry you have to go through this," she said. "I know it's tough but hang in there, okay? It'll be alright."

My throat closed. "Yeah?" I asked blinking away the tears.

"Yeah."

The Prince paced back and forth in this room. He glanced at the papers on his desk and kept pacing. Nothing was really going according to plan. The boredom was still there. Sure, there were some interesting segments of time especially when talking to Rin. She was just so entertaining in general.

And of course getting chased by assassins had also been a change of pace but the euphoria from that hadn't lasted. Honestly, nothing had changed. There was no uproar of rampaging vampires on the news or anything about his car accident last night. The conference had been carried out without a hitch. His father sure knew how to manipulate the public.

Sure, he hadn't expected Rin to be attacked but that was to be expected right? To put it simply, that radical group had given him extra leverage on her. What were they called again? Unable to remember, the Prince shrugged. Well, it didn't really matter. Rin was still within his grasp.

However, the fact that she seemed immune to his charm was quite annoying. Did she really think he wanted to walk around the peasants? But no matter, the Prince could endure. He just wished she'd hurried up and pledge her undying loyalty to him. It wasn't that hard. There was nothing to think about. Why wouldn't she want to pledge her loyalty? That made no sense.

"My lord?" came from outside of his room.

The Prince ignored it and kept pacing. How could he push the radical to act rashly? How to provoke them? He could use Rin as bait and if she died, that would definitely incite panic. Vampires would be feared again and then, his father would tell him that he was right all along.

The thought suddenly ended there. No, Rin couldn't die. Not yet, at least. She still had to pledge her loyalty to him. Okay, that plan would be put on hold for the moment. The Prince tapped his chin. He could continue to go around without body guards and paint himself as an easy target . . .

"Move aside," Violet snapped.

The door burst opened and the tenth wife walked inside. Her brow was furrowed and her lips were set in a thin line. Her manservant walked in meekly with a stack of papers in his arms. He bowed at the Prince shuffled forward.

"Prince," she began.

"I'm not in the mood," the Prince interrupted without glancing at her. He kept pacing.

"Well, be in the mood," Violet said curtly. She motioned her manservant forward and snatched the documents from his arms. Violet held the documents out. "Read it."

The Prince stopped his pacing and finally looked at her. His eyebrow rose. "Are you giving me commands now?" he asked. "Remember who you're talking to."

Ignoring him, Violet slammed the documents on his desk. "Read it," she said again. "It concerns you're current obsession."

Without waiting for him to reply, Violet turned on her heel and walked out of the room. Her manservant bowed low to the Prince before running after his mistress. Even when the door had closed, the Prince didn't move. Obsession? He didn't have an obsession.

Brooding, he glanced at the documents. What was so important that she had dared talk to him in that manner? Had she forgotten that he outranked her? The nerve. But even as the time passed, the bait had been set. Feeling intrigue, the Prince walked to his desk and quickly read over the stack of papers. Finishing, a low, menacing growl erupted from his lips.

So, the Boreks wanted to end the contract, eh? Not in this lifetime.
