Chapter 21

"Son of a.." Seth growled as he turned over to hit whoever was putting acid on his back. He had been tortured for days, with compresses and enough elixirs to last him all the way through his immortal life.

He was tired of laying in this bed. He was tired of waiting to heal. And, looking over at Camael, he was tired of looking at his friends ugly face. He wanted to tell them to get the hell out of his cabin and leave him in peace. But he knew deep inside that they were only trying to help. And for that fact alone, he would bite his tongue. For now.

"Stop being such a human" Briathos growled underneath her breath.

Why was she still her again? He asked himself as the angel who he suspected had one time worked for Satan, with her knowledge of acid treatments, poured more of the painful concoction on his back.

Hissing, he closed his eyes and found solace in the one person that kept him at peace. Nova.. With her smiling face and glow of warmth. He pushed his thoughts to picture her as she was when that had shared that one spectacular night, and away from how her face looked when he last seen her.

How was she? He wondered for the thousandth time. He could not wait for the moment he could climb out of this bed and see her again. To tell her..

What? That he had survived hell, that he had fulfilled his destiny? What kind of crap would that be to lay at her feet? He was changing in ways that even he couldn't even fathom. How could he expect her to understand?

God, how he hated this. He hated feeling uncertain. Ruthfully he thought back to when he was a demon.. or at least he had thought he was. Then, he knew who he was. What he wanted. But one girl had changed him. Now his life was pure chaos.

"How long?" he croaked beneath a wave of pain.

"Not long.." Camael assured as he leaned over Seth, "I can already see the change forming."

"And what exactly is the change?" Seth said with as much venom as he could muster, they had yet to tell him what exactly the change was. Was he human? Was he a walking ninety year old corpse? Why were they refusing to answer that one basic question?

"I think that answer can wait for a little while longer.." Camael again dodged the question.

As his friend went to take a step back, Seth grabbed his shirt with surprising strength. He was tried of that line. He wanted the truth straight up.

Growling with anger he pulled the powerful angel toward him as he lifted himself off the bed. Frustration and pent up anxiety edged his features.

But his friend didn't look as if he had expected anything else. Worse he looked lightly amused. I'm going to kill him he thought as he pulled Camael closer ready to knock his lights out. That's when the answer hit him straight in the face.

Instead of the red sheen that had slivered through his body, the anger induced transformation into demon, his skin started to glow, like someone had put a florescent light underneath his skin. Instead of the hatred burning into power that fueled a demon he felt raw power that even he was surprised in the abundance flowed easily through his body.

Shock must have been evident because Camael's bemused look turned into satisfaction. Before he could yell at his friend or at least wipe the ever growing smile that Camael taunted him with, he heard a strange flittering sound.

Seth tore his accusing eyes off of Camael and looked around wildly trying to see where the sound was coming from. It was like a thousand birds had token residence in his home. That was when he saw the other two angels staring at him. One had a look of pleasure while the other looked at him with disgust.
