There's quite a bit of chop and change with the POVs. Sorry if it gets annoying. It's just that some things need to be Raven's POV for you to understand it, whereas other parts need to be Cole's POV to be understood properly.

Chapter 29

Cole's POV

"Just close your eyes!" Raven demanded for what had to be the thirteenth time.
"But why?" I retorted once more, rolling my eyes at her insistence.
"Cole!" she screamed, having completely lost patience with me.
"Raven," I screamed right back, mocking her.

I watched in amusement as her face turned an adorable shade of red.
"Cole, for God's sake, just close...your fucking...eyes!" I saw that her hands were fisted in their chains, her blue eyes flashing dangerously. Any normal person would have just given in to her demands. But did I ever claim to be normal?
"Why can't you just tell me why?" I asked, frustrated that she didn't trust me enough to tell me.
"You really want to know why?"
"Yes!"
"Because for whatever reasons, these chains stop our powers from working," she yelled, banging the chains on her hands against the wall. "But I think I may have found a way around that. And I can't tell you because Lucius will probably just read it straight from your mind!" She paused for a moment, breathing heavily, while I just stared at her in shock. "Now will you just close your damn eyes already!"

I just wordlessly closed my eyes, feeling a bit guilty now for pushing her as I had when she was just trying to get us out of here. I don't know how the fact that the demon could read minds had somehow slipped mine, but it had. Then I frowned.
"Won't Lucius just be able to read your mind?"
"No, he can't read me. He couldn't read Grace either, and I'm guessing that he couldn't read my mum's. I don't know why. It's probably a Hunter thing..."
I shook my head, eyes still closed. "That's so weird," I muttered.
She chuckled. "Tell me about it."

Raven's POV

At last, he was fucking cooperating! Words could not describe how frustrated I was at his need to know why. Could he not have just trusted me? Closing your eyes was hardly a strenuous request. But I couldn't help but think that he'd enjoyed seeing me get all hot and bothered. I shook my head at him. He could be such a bastard sometimes. A lovable bastard, but a bastard nonetheless.

Deciding to pay him back later, because there would be a later for us, I grabbed Cole's hand, trying to figure out how I was going to do this.

I knew that individually, our powers wouldn't be enough to break the chains. But there had to be a limit on the amount of power they could hold. I knew that my powers were strong. After all, I had not just my own gift, but Grace's as well, and we were both supposedly stronger than most because we were Hunters. If I could somehow combine Cole's power with mine, maybe I could break the chains...

So now I had to find a way to channel Cole's power. The only time I'd done anything with someone else's power was with Grace. And she was dying at the time. But I think it was more will than anything else. She wanted me to have her powers. Had willed it to be so. And it had worked. So-

"Er Raven?" Cole said, interrupting my train of thought. "How long do I have to sit here with my eyes closed?"
"As long as it takes," I snapped jokingly. "I need you to focus, and closing your eyes helps to block out everything else."
"I feel so stupid," he muttered, his face morphing into an adorable pout. Unable to help myself, I leaned in and brushed my lips against his.
"Sweetie, that's because you are stupid," I murmured, chuckling as I pulled back.
"I resent that," he said, a gorgeous smile on his face.

Silence descended on us as I tried to think how I could get Cole to will his power into me, without telling him that that was what he would be doing.

"Cole, I need you to do something for me," I began hesitantly. I tried to grab his other hand in mine, but the chains stopped me, digging painfully into my skin. I winced, barely stifling my cry of pain.
"Raven, you know I'll do anything." I felt something within myself soften towards Cole. I let go of his hand to briefly caress his face, trailing my fingers over his silky skin. Cole leaned into my touch, almost like he was inviting me to do more. But knowing that this wasn't the time or the place, I reluctantly let my hand drop from his face to recapture his hand in mine.

"I need you to will everything that you are...into me," I said, knowing that I probably wasn't making any sense.
Cole frowned in confusion. "You lost me."
"Think of it like...transferring your energy, your soul, your very essence into me. Everything that you are, all the good, all the bad, will it out of your body, into your hands and into mine. And you need to want it, will it to be so, with everything in you, or it won't work."
Cole's frown deepened. "I don't see how this will help us."
"If you do it right, it will. Don't you trust me?"

Cole's POV

"Don't you trust me?" she asked, her voice wavering ever so slightly. I barely held back my growl. After everything we'd been through together, she still thought I didn't trust her?
"Raven, how can you even ask me that?" Even to me, my voice sounded strained.
"Prove it to me." Her eyes seemed to burn into me, so much so, I could feel them even with my eyes still closed. "Do this for me and prove to me that you trust me. That you want me."

She'd just played on my biggest desire: my need for her to be mine. It was a challenge I couldn't help but meet. Doing this one thing for her would show her that I really did love her.

I squeezed my already closed eyes tighter. Everything that I am, laid bare for her to see. The thought scared me. But my fear was not bigger than my love for her.

I willed all my love, my hate, my very being, out into my hands, wishing with everything in me that she could see it, experience it.

As soon as it entered my hands, I felt like it was being sucked out of me. I didn't even have to will it to go. Alarm began to bubble inside me, but I pushed it away. I loved and trusted Raven with my life, and now was my chance to prove it.

I began to feel weaker and weaker as all that I was poured out of me and into Raven. Distantly, I heard her gasp out my name, but I ignored her and continued to spill all my secrets, my darkest wishes and desires, into her.

And as more and more of myself began to leave me, I began to feel closer and closer to Raven, almost as if I were feeling her thoughts. Her love and worry for me. Her hatred for Lucius. Her sorrow and guilt over Grace and her mother. Just as she was taking from me, I took from her, until I felt like we were merged into one person.

From a far away place, I heard a male voice bellow with fury. But it was too late to stop what was happening between us. The spark had ignited, and all he could do was watch the flames roar.

As the last of essence transferred over to Raven, I felt all my limbs go limp. Powerless to do anything else, I let myself be stolen by the waiting darkness, hoping that this had been enough to prove myself to Raven.

Short, I know, but I couldn't think what to write next; my inspiration ran dry :'( But there's going to be a bit of a twist next chapter o.O

And awww, don't you just LOVE Cole? ;) haha, wanting to prove himself to Raven. N'awww <3 LOL

Anyways, I hope you awesome fan peoples enjoyed and didn't get too annoyed at the chopping and changing of POVs. :)
