Callen's POV - Tuesday Evening. Sept. 17

I had managed to find a decent outfit for tonight and I let Avery fix my hair to look decent instead of the just crawled out of bed sexy messy style I normally had it in. I honestly didn't want to wear the stupid penguin suit my father had bought me a year ago for a pack member's wedding to his human mate. Of course it was that or jeans. I didn't own anything in between so I had pretty much no choice. Granted it wasn't just some run of the mill tux. It had been tailor made -perks of being an alpha or alpha heir- and it wasn't suffocating of constricting. It actually looked really good on me but I just wasn't the type that liked these things. That's why this was my only tux/suit of any kind. Everything else I owned was jeans, shorts, or sports wear. Lots of t-shirts and tanks and the like.

As I stood down in the ballroom, feeling out of my comfort zone in the fucking monkey suit, I couldn't help but think about what Fae had told me. I'd spoken with Avery and his advice was to just listen to my heart and the mate pull, not my head. I tended to overthink things a lot, which I never actually noticed, and missed out on many good things simply because of that fact. He told me that this was one thing I'd regret for the rest of my extremely long life if I messed it up by over thinking. He had a point. Fae was my mate, even after his admission, I still felt the need to pull him to me and mark him. I wanted to hold him in my arms and calm whatever fears and worries he had, the things that clouded his bright eyes that should shine with love and happiness.

I shook my head and looked up to the balcony I'd noticed earlier as I heard the doors being shoved open. Fae's parents stepped through them with the two girls right behind. Some of the noise in the room had died down upon their entrance. As I looked around at the members of my pack, I noticed many were looking at them, no, not them. They were looking at the twins. It wasn't really the fact that they were twins, though very rare in werewolves, they were not unheard of. No, everyone was looking at them because they had fair complexions, flaming red hair, bright crystal blue eyes, and were more beautiful than they probably even knew.

"Good evening everyone. Thank you for coming tonight. This is to welcome you to our town as well as give me a chance to meet with your alpha. I hope you all enjoy yourselves tonight. And don't worry about the little ones breaking anything or anything. These two have already put this place through hell and back on their own." I heard their father say, though I wasn't really focusing on his words much. Of course at his remark on the girls putting the ballroom through hell when they were pups, I couldn't help but chuckle at the image of a little Fae and Kenley running wild through the room. Pups were wild in general, more in tune with their wolf spirit than their human side even if they had yet to shift, but something told me that Fae and Kenley weren't like normal pups. They seemed as if they were wilder, more wolf than even an alpha pup was.

My train of thought was interrupted as Fae and Kenley separated from each other, going down opposite stair ways. My eyes never left Fae. I should have been thinking about the fact that my mate is really a guy, that it made me gay and that I wouldn't be producing heirs to the alpha line and would have to adopt a wolf pup with the alpha gene if I planned on handing over the alpha position. Of course, those thoughts weren't floating through my mind at the time. No, my thoughts were on how perfect Fae looked in that lovely green dress. His hair was done up in an amazing up do that made me wonder whether he did it himself or if he had help. Same for his make-up. You really couldn't tell he was actually a guy, even in a dress that practically required curves, he seemed to fill it perfectly which made me wonder how he did that. I had tried not to look as him in the woods when he stepped out or when he thanked me, more from shock and denial than anything, so I didn't really know if his figure was that feminine or if he cheated.

He looked up, obviously feeling my gaze and our eyes met briefly before he looked somewhere else. I followed his line of sight, curious to see what he was staring at and saw that it was my father. He and Kenley had finally made their way in front of him and greeted him before informing him that their father was ready for him, Shaun, Avery, and I. I had almost forgotten that there was actually supposed to be a meeting with him. My father thanked them then dismissed them, having seen my mate act submissive to him caused my world to growl but I had managed to keep it in. It would be a bit embarrassing to growl at my father in a room full of weres and a few human mates for no reason that any of them could see. Only my father and Shaun knew about Fae being my mate. Well, of course Avery and the others of our small group did but they knew better than to let anyone else know.
