Chapter 19: Alli & The Special Sandwich

~Alli~

“Nagugutom ka?” Derek asked me out of a sudden.

We are still by the hedge with both of our elbows rested on it.

“Ayos lang naman ako, hindi ako nagugutom.” I answered. “Bakit? Grabe, nagugutom ka parin? Ang laki nung hotdog kanina na kinain mo ah.”

“Hindi yun!” He said, as he walked over to the car and grabbed something.

“Ha? Eh ano?”

“Oh, i-try mo to.” He said, offering me a clubhouse sandwich sealed in a plastic bag.

“Uh, uhm, a sandwich?” I said.

“Oo, ginawa ko.” He explained, “Special Sandwhich ang tawag namin nila Jude dito. My friends and I love this sandwhich. Dali na, try mo.”

“But it’s just an ordinary clubhouse sandwich.” I mumbled.

“No, it’s a special sandwich nga.” He nagged. “Try mo and sabihin mo sakin kung masarap o hindi.”

I gave him a suspicious look, “May lason ba to?”

“Uy, wala ah!” He protested. “Hoy, minsan lang kita gawan ng pagkain kaya kainin mo na.”

I rolled my eyes and snatched the sandwich bag from his hand. I unzipped the plastic’s sealer and grab a bite from the sandwich. Once I started chewing the sandwich, I started to cough.

“Ano? Masarap?” Derek asked.

“Ano ba meron sa--” I quickly swallowed the entire piece down to my throat because it tastes so horrible and then I coughed even more.

“Ano ba meron sa sandwich na to?!” I yelled at him, “Grabe ang panget ng lasa!”

Then Derek started to throw his head back and laugh at me.

“Derek, ano ba?!” I pushed his shoulder, with an irritated tone.

“Alli—“ He laughed.

“Ano?”

“May marijuana yung sandwich na kinain mo.”

“Ha?! Hindi nga?!”

“Oo, may marijuana nga.” He laughed, as he snatched the sandwich bag from me and then he took a bite from it.

“Nakakainis ka! Buwiset ka!” I said, punching his chest as hard as I can but I know no matter how hard I try to punch him, my knuckles are still too soft. Derek just kept laughing, trying to hold back my punches by grabbing my wrists, locking it close to his chest.

“Derek, bitawan mo ko!” I yelled him, yanking my arm away from him but his grip were too tight for me to let go.

“Tumigil ka muna sa kakasigaw.” He said, showing me his devious smile of his.

“How am I even going to trust you?!” I yelled at him, still trying to remove my wrist away from his grip. “After what you just did to me, you think maniniwala pa ko sayo?!” Derek smirked as he pushed me away from him, making me lose balance and fall on my butt on the grass.

“Aray ko naman!” I groaned, “Hoy, ang sakit nun ha!”

“Buti nga sayo.” He said, sounding like a little kid.

“Hindi mo ba ko tutulungan tumayo?” I grunted but he just ignored me and put his hands inside his front pocket and took a glance away from me and heaved out an irritated sigh,
