Chapter 12: Takas & Saya

~Alli~

7:30 am.

I woke up by the sun light hitting on my face. Grabe, umgang umaga pa lang ang init na dito sa Pinas at summer na kasi. I got up on my feet, did little stretches and walk to my dresser to put hair in a messy bun. Then head to the bathroom to pee, wash my face to freshen up and brush my teeth.

Krooo...kroook...

I heard my tummy growling. What? I’m starving already? But I want to shower first!

Krooo...kroook...

Okay, okay, I’ll go eat first. Screw you brain!

So I lazily made my way downstairs, scratching my back and neck. I feel uneasy this morning. Ugh, ang init talaga! But I feel sorry for my tummy at wala pang laman.

“Uh, looks like someone did not have a good night sleep last night.”

Suddenly I saw Derek in our dining room, eating breakfast.

“Woah!” I blurt out, swiftly covering my chest with my hands because I figured out I’m wearing my white mini-night dress that shows off my thighs, and I don’t even a bra!

I heard him smirk, “Oh, kumain ka na at aalis pa tayo.”

“Tayo?” I said, confused by the word tayo.

“Oo, samahan mo ko tumingin ng head lights and then sasamahn kita kaynila Tyler.”

“Ha? Eh, akala ko ba ayaw mo?”

“Alli?” I heard Auntie from our garden, she must planting flowers again.

“Po?” I yell in a soft way.

“Gising kana?”

“Di po ba obvious?” I giggle.

“Oh kumain kana ng almusal para sabay kayo niyan ni Derek.”

“Uhm, osige po.” I face Derek and caught him looking at my bare legs, “Hey! Keep your eyes up here, buddy.” I demanded him, pointing two fingers on my eyes.

“Pfft, maligo ka na nga!” He teased, “I can smell you from here!”

“Whatever!” I tease him back, making my way upstairs.

“White looks good on you, by the way!” He says.

I pause and open my mouth to say something insulting back to him, but no sound comes out so closed it. I continued walking upstairs with a confused expression on my face.

“Sir, meron po kaming iba’t ibang klase ng head lights para sa motor eh.” The salesman said, ducking his head below the counter to get something.

“Ah, ganon ba? Sige patingin.” Derek says.

So here I am at the mall with Derek. I’m sitting on a small chair while watching him find headlights for his motor bike. I was looking around the area and it seems like I don’t even belong here. It’s all manly and tough. I think no one would see any girly and shy type kind of girls like me here. But I still can’t get over with the feeling of Derek Santiago and I in the house earlier. No let me correct that, the feeling that you’re naked in the bathroom trying to take a shower while Derek Santiago is only a few feet away from the ground floor.

I shake my head and find a distraction to forget that thought. I look down at my wrist and play with the bracelet my mom has given for my 18th birthday. It’s made of silver with tiny diamond stones on with my name on it, ‘Allison’ engraved on it. Papa told me that mom bought me this bracelet and I’m supposed to wear it on my 18th birthday, but when I turned 13, I started wearing it because I feel like my mom is still with me even when she’s not, guiding me in every way that I go, still loving me even she’s literally not here.
