Laying on the cold, hard, concrete floor in an unknown building was probably the worst way I could imagine waking up.

My hair was covered and stiff with my own blood.

I was reluctant to move.
Maybe I should just play dead.

At least for a while.

I needed to regain some strength.

And I need to come up with a plan to get out of here. Now.

The room was silent besides the sound of my breathing.

I was alone.

I opened my eyes.

I was right.

I looked around before sitting up.

Handcuffs cut into my wrist.

Great.

I took a deep breath.

I took out the pin I always had  in my pants.

Comes in handy every time.

I held it in my hand while I listened closely for any sounds of approaching.

I also listened for the sound of animals or water.

I could hear the flowing of a river.

I could follow it away from here.

Then what?

Go home?

To shield? I betrayed them.

They're probably looking for me.

I sighed.
It was no time to sit and think about that.

I quickly undid the handcuffs with the hair pin.

I walked over to the door.

Padlocked.

I walked over to the window, that was my way out.

Footsteps were approaching.

I quickly ran back to my previous spot and locked myself in the cuffs. Loosely.

I laid on the floor just in time for the door to open.

"Still asleep." A deep voice said I'm a thick Russian accent. "She isn't as fun as you say."

"It'll be better when she's awake."

"Maybe you shouldn't have drugged her so much you fucking idiot."

"Trust me she's tougher than she looks I didn't think it'd have such a strong affect on her."

The man scoffed and seemed to leave the room followed by the other man.

I waited until I couldn't hear footsteps anymore. And then some.

I kept the handcuffs on just in case and ran to the window.
I had to jump a few times to look out and see my surroundings.

The coast was clear.

There was a rundown parking lot directly ahead and a small patch of foresting to the right.

A river only meters away from here.

On the other side of the river in the near distance was a city.

I could make it.

I undid the cuffs and prepared myself for a literal leap of faith.

I took a few steps back before jumping and grabbing the ledge where the window was.

I pulled myself up and broke the window as quietly as possible.

Poking my head through I looked both directions and jumped out.

I did a brief stretch after landing my jump.

The coast was clear.

I took off in a full sprint before I heard popping sounds.

A sound I knew too well.

Gunshots.

I zigged and zagged to no avail.

My leg gave out on me after being pierced by a bullet or two.
I wasn't sure.

This was it.

They were going to finish me off.

After I got so far.

I was sure the shooter would have a terrible shot due to my distance.

I was stupid to underestimate them.

I laid in the dirt, grass and rocks and welcomed death.

I prayed that by some miracle I died before the Russian men got to me.

"Stephanie!?" A voice called.

The voice was distant and needy.

I tried to open my eyes to see or my mouth to speak.

I couldn't.

I would die here and I don't even know what my last words were.

Would anyone miss me?

Would anyone even remember me?

I thought of my little sisters.

They looked up to me and I let them down.

My dad trusted me and believed in me, and I broke that.

"Hey, hey...." the voice continued. "I'm here now okay. You're safe. I'm so sorry Steph. I'm so sorry I left you."

The voice was smooth and pained.

I used every ounce of power I could muster to open my eyes.

The dark hair.
The unkempt facial hair.
The intense blue eyes.
The cool metal on my skin.

My vision focused.

My knight in shining vibrainium.

Bucky.

Was I dreaming??

Is this heaven?

Was I already dead?

Just a smalls something since I haven't posted in ages.
