《 Marcus's POV 》

I took Diana's hand and led her towards the car, her skin warm to touch in the cold air. Scathach was already waiting in the car and I opened the door for Diana.

She climbed in and I climbed in after her, my hand still in hers. Scathach started driving back to her house and Diana stared out the window, her face set hard.

"What's wrong?" I asked concerned.

She flicked her brown hair over her shoulder to look at me. "Nothing" she replied.

I peered at her with an eyebrow raised. "I think I know when you're lying to me" I replied.

She sighed. "I just don't understand how both my parents could be royalty and want me to take over their throne, I'm so confused" she said.

"And it's okay to be confused, you just need time to figure out who you are" I said gently, my thumb brushing over her palm.

She looked down at our joined hands. "I just want to be Diana Baxter again, to go home and pretend none of this happened" she said, sadly.

"None of it?" I asked, not helping but feel hurt.

She looked up and studied my face. "Well not all" she said, a small smile tugging at her lips.

"We're here" Scathach said suddenly.

Diana looked out the window and saw Austin, Taron and Keian waiting for us at the front steps. Diana looked away quickly, guilt covering her face. Scathach got out of the car and walked over to the group while I looked at Diana.
"Are you okay?" I asked, worried.

I could see her bite her lip. "Marcus, I need to tell you something" she said, her voice croaky.

I didn't like where this was going. She looked up at me, her eyes already brimming with tears. "What?" I asked, my voice firm.

She sniffled and wiped at her eyes. "Austin and I... I kissed Austin" she said, trailing off.

My throat closed off and my non beating heart seemed to freeze. Every function of my body couldn't seem to respond. "Marcus? Please say something.. I'm sorry!" She exclaimed, reaching for my hand.

I moved back and Diana squeaked as she cradled her hand, hurt that I wouldn't let her hold mine. "Marcus! Please, he kissed me and I couldn't help it and I'm sorry, okay? I don't know what else to do" she cried out, before sobbing. 

My eyes had been focused on the gearbox but they shot back to her eyes. "He kissed you?" I finally asked.

Diana's shoulders shook as she cried. "I'm sorry" she managed to gasp out.

My hand fumbled for the doorknob and I pushed open the door. "Marcus!" She exclaimed as I got out. 

I was angry. Furious. I walked around the car and headed for him. "Austin!" I yelled.

The werewolf turned around to look at me heading towards him. I reached him quickly and grabbed the collar of his shirt, pushing him back until his back hit the wall. Austin winced. "You kissed Diana?!" I snapped.

Austin tried to push back at me. "She kissed me too!" He exclaimed.

"Stop it!" I heard Diana call out, crying.

My eyes flashed and I could feel my fangs lengthen. "Go on, show Diana the monster you can be" Austin taunted.

I hissed and pulled him away from the wall before slamming him against it again. "You son of a bitch" I growled.

Austin finally found the strength to push me back. His eyes flashed gold. "Stay back Marcus! I won't hesitate to rip you to shreds" he snapped.

I scoffed and grinned nastily. "I'd like to see you try" I challenged.

Austin didn't even hestitate, he rushed forward anď threw the first punch. My head swung to the side before he was trying to hold me and hit me. Using my vampire strength, I kicked his knee and spun under his grasp, twisting his arm.
I yanked it and I heard the bone snap. Austin yelled before I heard more bones cracking.

I looked up to see Diana rushing towards us. "Stay back!" I roared as Austin began to change.

Diana skidded to a stop before falling back. Austin turned his wolf head to look at me, baring his long canine teeth. He leapt at me and before I could respond I heard Diana scream.

Austin fell to the ground and we both looked at her as fire spilled out of her hands and crawled across the ground like a deadly friend. Austin turned his tail and ran for the front door while I stood in shock.
Diana was screaming as if the fire was burning her, and then I realised. It was.

She cried out for help and I took a breath. I raced towards her, jumping over the flickering flames as they licked the sky. "Diana!" I yelled, trying to reach her.

Her scream cut off and turned into coughing as smoke began to fill up the area. I lost her in the blaze and smoke. "Diana!" I yelled.

I heard nothing. "Diana! Answer me baby!" I yelled.

I turned in a full circle, suddenly surrounded by the blaze. I was a vampire but I could definitely die by fire.
"Marcus!" I heard her call out weakly.

"Diana, where are you?" I asked.

Through the blaze, I saw her struggle to stand. "I'm coming!" I exclaimed, making a run for her.

I heard a crackle and the fire flared up between us and I hissed as it touched me. Diana's wide eyes stared at me through the flames. "I'm sorry Marcus, I never meant to hurt you" she said, soot and tears streaking down her face.

"Diana, don't talk like that! You're going to be fine!" I exclaimed.

She raised both of her hands as.if in glee. Her eyes closed. "Diana!" I yelled as she fell backwards into the flames.

I heard her scream before it cut off abruptly. I started forward as a figure walked through the flames all dressed in black. He knelt beside her and raised his hand and pressed her forehead with his middle finger. "Don't touch her!" I yelled.

The man looked up and I could see his teeth flash as he grinned. He scooped her up bridal style before walking out of the flames. I couldn't stop him, being surrounded by flame. "Taron!" I yelled.

He was too far way to hear me and couldn't see through the smoke. I turned back to the figure that retreated with the woman I loved.
"Diana!"

I wonder who this new figure is.
He must be important though.

Seems like Marcus and Diana can't catch a break.
