In my original outline of the book, I kept a list of all the characters, their ages, and their diagnoses. Those are all a little bit off now, so here's an updated version:

Gerard was in there for addiction and liver problems/failure, which he developed before going to the hospital. He ended up going to residential for underlying psychological problems that were a result of whatever the fuck his dad did.

Frank was there because huh idk man (lmao sorry yes anorexia)

Lindsey was in res for addiction, but if you try and make a break for it, there's a chance your team will declare you unstable and you get yeeted to psych. So, she didn't really need to be there, but since she ran she was forced to stay. She also self-harmed, but it wasn't why she was there.

Hayley had depression and an eating disorder (it was only mentioned once in the very beginning).

Brendon had RLS and ADHD.

Ryan had depression and schizophrenia (it was never really mentioned).

okay Ray was suPPOSED to be in this fic but he wasn't really. He had schizophrenia (wowksksfkds).
