Hello. Welcome to my q&a chapter. Questions are in bold italics and answers are underlined.
Hope you like the answers.

-What does Luin mean?

Luin is an abbreviation on the elvish word Illuin, which refers to the blue lamp of the Valar. It literally translates to mean All-Blue.
I chose this because I get a real sense of depth and empathy from the colour blue. Also, I'm a nerd and I wanted to make it a pun. Luin the blue.
Like Legolas, which means greenleaf. The boy literally comes from a forest. His name is also a freaking pun!

-How old is Luin and does he age?

Luin is around 1000 years old in the hobbit. A few hundred years younger than Legolas. He no longer ages, but like elves can be killed. That is why they call him a dark elf, because he has the lifespan of a elf.
Cultivators can achieve immortality once they've reached a certain level of power. Luin gained his immortality by accident. When his parents died they transferred their power to him, pushing him into immortality. It wasn't really his choice but he doesn't mind.

-Why did you decided to make Luin a cultivator?

I read a lot of translated Chinese novels and I watch a lot of dramas. I was always interested in Chinese fantasy and it's similarities and differences to western fantasy. Middle earth is the ideal western fantasy. I wanted to explore how these two fantasy worlds would mix.
Also, I'm mixed in a very white area. Not fully English but too English to be Asian. So Luin being a outsider within a white western community was something I could easily relate to and write about.

-Will there be more cultivator characters in the next book?

I am not planning on including any more cultivators within my next book. I feel like it would make the plot too chaotic and it's hard enough trying to write one cultivator.
Also, the idea behind Luin's character is that he is the only one. He is this foreigner within this incredibly mystical and dangerous world. This expresses the point of view of exploring middle earth as an outsider. It's part of his charm but also part of his weaponry. To include any more cultivator characters would ruin that slightly and mess up Tolkien's original plot too much.

-There is sixty years between the hobbit and LOTR. What happens to Luin and Legolas during that time?

In the sixty year gap between the hobbit and LOTR, Luin and Legolas mainly go travelling together. They take their relationship slow. (They have no need to rush). And have loads of mini adventures. They meet Aragorn and spend time with him. And they also explore middle earth.
They do part on occasion for Luin to visit other wizards and for Legolas to go and visit his homeland. Due to Luin's interference, Legolas and Thranduil have a stronger relationship. Legolas still does not ever become king, but he no longer self imposes exile. He is free to visit and leave Mirkwood when ever he likes.
(Thranduil often invites them back for parties).

-In the LOTR book, will there be any more stories about Luin's past and his homeland?

Yes. I can say for certain that there will be more revealed about Luin as the books go on. There will also be little stories about his travels with Legolas during the sixty years between both books. I am looking forward to writing it and have loads planned.

-How were Legolas and Luin connected through their dreams? Is it a type of soul bond?

As with the question above, this will be explained a bit more during the next book.
The idea is that Luin had a dream about an elf. It was just a random elf but his magic (without him knowing) used the dream to link him to Legolas, because the elf Luin was framing off was based upon the descriptions he had heard of Legolas. They dreamt about each other's flaws, although they do not know it. Legolas is afraid of being trapped and turning into the cold king of his father. While Luin is scared of being overwhelmed. Of dying of Qi deprivation and drowning within his magic. Luin also has trauma linked to drowning due to how his parents died.
Both of their fears strengthened the dreams and although they had not met, they were able to dream of each other.
