Chapter 26 - Treaties

Maddie POV:

"And I love you." I smiled at her. She turned around and I put it around her neck and clipped it on her. Then she turned around and kissed her. We parted from the kiss to see both our families staring at us in shock.

We stood there in shock as well, not being able to process the fact that both of our families just saw us kiss.

"Girls mind telling us what's going on here?" Elena's father, Esteban asked.

"Um" was all we could get out.

"I think it's obvious what's going on" Elena's brother Max started before he was cut off my Mateo.

"Can it Max." Mateo scolded.

"I'm going to ask again....mind telling us what's going on here." Esteban asked again.

"Papá, estamos enamorados." Elena told her father.
(Translation: Dad, we are in love.)

"Love? Love Elena? Elena you are fifteen you don't know the meaning of love." Her father tried to reason.

"Maddison is this true?" My father asked.

"Yes." I told him as I grabbed Elena's hand and squeezed it.

"Girls look. This has nothing to do with your sexual orientation, but as you both know there is a treaty with Elena's name on it." Esteban spoke. "And in the fine print it says Elena isn't allowed to date anyone, for insurance that she won't refuse to marry Colton."

"Dad come on you cant be serious." Mateo spoke.

"Ya they are two kids, just let them live life." Maddox responded. "It's not like this is the first time." Maddox quietly stopped himself.

"YOU KNEW ABOUT THIS MADDOX?" My father yelled quietly.

"Yes, and so did I" Sam replied.

"And me" Alex told my father.

"And so did I." Mateo said to his father.

"So all four of you knew about this and you didn't stop it?" Esteban replied "You of all people know what's at stake here. The future of our two families."

Our brothers looked down. "Esteban, Sophia, I think we need to talk about this in private, Mirabella please come too." My father told him.

They both left the room to go to my fathers private office.

"So you two are a thing?" Colton asked.

"Colton I'm sorry, I knew about the treaty and I'm sorry." I replied.

"Mads I'm not mad about that. I'm mad that you didn't tell me."

"Ya!" Pretty much all of our brothers who didn't know told me and Elena.

"So how long have you two been a thing?" Elias asked.

I looked at Elena and she responded "Almost two months."

"TWO MONTHS REALLY ELENA! I can't believe you didn't tell me." Max started "BUT TEO GETS TO KNOW!"

"Sorry, we were just scared to see your reactions." Elena responded.

"And that something like this would happen." I told them.

Very soon after, Elena's parents, my father and Mirabella walked back into the room.

"Sit down" my father instructed. We all sat down on the couches. "After long negotiation, we have decided to void the original treaty. Elena you and Colton no longer are forced into a arranged marriage." 

I squeezed Elena's hand, I was so happy. "However there is a second part to this new treaty." Esteban spoke. "We have decided, due to the circumstances, we have set a new treaty in place, you two will be set to arranged marriage instead." I looked at Elena, I was going to be the women that she gets to marry.

"The only difference is, if your relationship doesn't work out, you two can pull from the treaty. But keep in mind we would prefer if you didn't, for it would benefit both our families in the long run. But if you really can't stand each other in three years, you can back out." My father told us.

We were both in shock. "THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!" Was all we could say. I was so happy, I knew from the start Elena and I were soulmates, and now I get to marry her. God I am the luckiest woman in the world. I looked over to her and kissed her on the lips.

Until Kade came over and got in between us, "ew PDA....." I slapped his head away and went back to kissing my beautiful bride to be in three years.
