"The female tribute from district four is....."
"Audrey Ledger!"

What.
No.
It's not me.
Please it's not me.
It can't be me.

My stomach dropped and I felt as if I had been punched in the gut and winded.
I couldn't breathe.
I think someone next to me said something but it was muffled.

My name had only been in there once.
This couldn't be real.
And yet it was.
I was going to be in the hunger games.
And that was that.

"Come on up dear."
"Where are you?" The pink haired woman peered around the crown.

I was knocked out of my muffled state by someone shaking me.
The girl next to me shook me and said "Its you. You need to go up."

I realised that if I was going to do this I would need to make an okay first impression at least.

So, I set my jaw and tried my best to hold back any tears that threatened to fall. I couldn't be perceived as weak or I would be a target.

"There she is, come on we don't have all day." She laughed.

I reached the steps and started climbing them slowly, reluctantly.

As I made my way to the middle of the stage, she gestured for me to come to the microphone.

"How old are you dear?" She inquired.

"Um, thirteen." I said but my voice wavered.
I mentally cursed myself.

"Tut. So young. Well your very pretty, I'm sure you'll get some sponsors!" She tutted and nodded at me.

I gave her a blank stare.

"Now for the boys!" She flourished away.

"And the male tribute from district four is....."

"Crimson Reed!"

A stocky boy who looked to be about eighteen stepped up, looking quite okay with what was happening.

"How old are you Crimson?" She smiled.

"Seventeen." He nodded proudly.

"Well, we have a range of age this year!" She commented.

"Now, hold hands children." She instructed.

We walked awkwardly to the centre of the stage and clasped hands.

"Ladies and Gentlemen of district four, I present to you: The tributes for the 73rd annual hunger games!" She grinned even wider than before.

We held our hand up and the crown started clapping. There were a few whoops but I think most people felt sorry for us.

I tried to catch my brothers eye in the crowd but I was dragged back to a room before I could see him.

It was plain, with a sofa and a few ornaments. I was a but confused as to why I was there really.

I sat down on the sofa and held my head in my hands.

I couldn't believe it.

This was happening.

It was real and it was happening.

Tears threatened to fall from my eyes as I realised that I would probably soon be dead.

All my thoughts from that morning had come true.

I ran a hand through my hair and sniffed.

Out of nowhere the door burst open.

I looked up to see who it was.
