TYLER MAXWELL WAS expelled from Summer Grove Academy that day.

My mom was furious when Noah brought my home that morning. Of course, it had to be the one morning she was still at home nursing a headache. As soon as I explained everything, she was on the phone to the headmistress. A few threats of going public with what Tyler had done to both Aurora and I, and she was signing his expulsion papers.

Apparently his parents tried to fight it, but Mum and Dad seemed to carry more sway with the school than a couple of new money parents who hadn't contributed sizeable donations to the school for many years.

The next couple of weeks brought with them a new pool of gossip surrounding my friends and I. Rumors flew about what had happened between Aurora and Tyler, as well as what had happened between me and him. There was talk about Noah, Rachel and Declan, when he wasn't off brooding God knows where, joining our little group at lunch. But after a few days of the whispers that followed some us like our own personal storm clouds, I was pretty sure we'd all grown immune to the irritation.

On a positive note, Kamilah was also removed from the dance team, courtesy of the headmistress. That particular punishment came in light of Aurora having to explain to her parents why she had bruises around her wrist. They'd been so infuriated, they too called in a nice threat to Headmistress Karlsson; something about exposing the school for allowing students to sabotage one another's futures without consequences. It was a beautiful narrative, if you asked me. And the team, while losing a talented member, was better off without her persistent negativity and overall hateful personality.

Our lives seemed to come into balance then, all the pieces fitting together like a puzzle with a hundred tiny pieces.  Violet's Halloween party went off without a hitch, the team had started working on our Regional's routines, Meghan and Mason became an official couple, we all managed to comfortably pass our mid-term evaluations and most of us had completed our college applications.

We were all actually happy, the whole lot of us, like in one of those cheesy, cliché teen movies Meghan and Aimee made me watch a million times.
