First of all thank you, thank you, thank you! I can't believe that this story has 22k reads and 1k likes. I have been a Gilmore Girl fanatic since the show was on originally, but haven't felt the need to seek out fanfic until after A Year In The Life. In some ways I loved AYITL, the dialogue, the characters, the beauty of the way it was all portrayed. In other ways it made me frustrated, empty, and left me wanting more- more of what I'm not sure but just more. Say what you will about Season 7 of the original series, but at least it had an ending. AYITL just ended abruptly with no closure, so I spent a lot of time (probably too much time) reading other people's take on the gaps that were left behind. It was then that I decided that I needed to give my take on it. I wrote the letter from Rory to Logan in the chapter "Shirtsleeves" first, specifically the quote from Persuasion that was so fitting and around that the whole story just started falling into place. I tried to keep it as canon as possible, lots of dialogue and quick pace but I definitely fell flat in some regards (ahem trying too hard or not enough in the pop culture references, Rory was a little too whiny and weepy). I told myself I would keep it brief (it ended up being 180 pages), around 10-15 chapters (it was 35), and that I would update it every week or at least every other week (9 months later). So you can say that this was a learning experience, and there are so many things that I would change now but I will say that I enjoyed hearing everyone's feedback and the first person that said that they felt like they could hear the characters saying my words honestly made me cry. So. . . thank you again for indulging my whims and need to fill in the gaps. I hope that you all have enjoyed my first fanfic as much as I have. Look for more stories to come ;)
