PROLOGUE

"Gave!" I cried as I reached the front porch of our house.

I made a cursory glance inside the house. It's in a mess. I put my hand in my mouth to prevent my sobs from escaping.

The broken pieces of plate scattered on the wooden floor. I heave a deep breath. I took a quick glance outside to see some neighbors running, screaming, groaning like hungry beasts. Mas lumakas ang kabog ng dibdib ko. I wiped the tears from my eyes bago ibinalik ang tingin sa loob.

The house is silent but I know something's going on upstairs. I scan the area to find something I can use as a weapon. I just hope that they are hiding and they are safe dahil hindi ko kakayanin kung may mangyaring masama sa kanila.

I ran towards the center island of our kitchen and grab the knife. I fell on my butt when a gunshot rang through my ears.

I'm freaking scared! Nakarinig ako ng sigaw. Maybe it's from one of our neighbors who is still sane. Yes, because most of the people have gone insane.

I was on my way to work nang makaramdam ako ng kakaiba. I rode a cab because I don't have a car. I did not mind it though. I usually get headaches in the morning when I skipped a cup of coffee. I heard a loud scream after the driver hit the gas and still, binalewala ko iyon. I remained vigilant habang nagmamaneho ang driver.

"Ahh!" The car suddenly hit the brakes at buti nalang nakaseatbelt ako.

I grimaced, I was about to complain but then I saw the cars in front of us. One car rammed the other car from behind after a squeal. Smoke emitted from either one of the two cars. I was too shock from what happened. I'm still in my neighborhood. I scrutinized the area and find everything so weird. The driver in his seat was not moving.

I scrunched in my seat and all I can hear is the loud beating of my heart. What the hell is going on? Screams reverberates followed by sirens from afar. I glance at the driver and all I can think is to get out of the car and that's what I did. He can ran after me if he still wants my fare but I doubt it because he seems dead.

I shrugged the conjecture out of my mind. I held my phone tightly that it might possibly break from my grasp.

Nanginginig ang mga kamay ko. My jaw drop when I saw a woman attack a man that I assume to be her husband. All I did was cover my mouth with my two hands so I can't scream. Blood gush from the man's neck while the woman is busy... eating him.

Screams were getting louder. I saw two police officers on the other side of the street arresting a man in his thirties. He's growling like a hungry beast and snarling even his hands are tied behind him. I looked around and saw several people running. Cars crashed to one another, tires squealing as some cars rammed the nearby trees. My town is in a mess.
