Jeongguk plodded into the shop, an energetic smile on his face. Taehyung looked up from his client, his eyes softening at the sight of his boyfriend's messy hair and sweet smile. He'd brought them both lunch since Taehyung's salon had been filled to the brim with customers; the upcoming holidays had everyone stopping by for a new look. The two shared a quick kiss as Jeongguk set the bags of piping hot food down. "Let me finish with this client and then I'll eat, 'kay?" Jeongguk nodded and headed to the back of the shop where they had set up a little table for two months before.

It was decorated with a simple vase of roses, which was a nice contrast from the table's wooden surface. He took a seat and pulled out his phone, scrolling through one of his many social media accounts. He heard a sudden door open and close, smiling to himself as Taehyung sat down across from him. "Sorry for the wait babe," he apologized sheepishly as he threw his head back with an exhausted sigh. "It's okay, I'm just glad you're finally getting a break. You really are overworking yourself," Jeongguk explained with a pout. Taehyung smiled and leaned over, giving his boyfriend a sweet kiss.

"I promise I'm doing fine, don't worry about me. I just miss getting to spend time with you all day. How's work for you anyways?" he asked as he unwrapped his burger. "It's actually going pretty well. Not a lot of people come in during the hours I work, so it's much less stressful." Jeongguk had started working at a cafe a couple stores down from Taehyung's salon after seeing a hiring ad in the window. Since both of them were working, the money they were bringing in raised exponentially, leaving them with a lot of money to put into savings and vacations. They'd even bought a dog named Yeontan that Jimin watched during the times Taehyung and Jeongguk were gone.

Everything was finally settling down and Jeongguk couldn't be happier.

"Investigator Min stopped by the cafe a few days ago," he stated as he munched on some fries. "Really? How is he doing?" "He's doing alright, though I did witness him get busted for dating two girls at once. I had to escort him and the two girls outside because of how loud they were being," Jeongguk laughed, recalling how distressed the man had looked. "Can't really say I'm surprised," Taehyung chuckled. "Anyways, have you decided on where we should go for the holidays?" Jeongguk shook his head, stealing a few sips from Taehyung's drink. "Seriously? You know that tomorrow is the deadline for that, right?" The boy nodded as he rested his chin in his hand.

"Do you at least have somewhat of an idea?" Taehyung questioned. Jeongguk paused, pursing his lips together. "I-I kinda wanted to go to a cabin or a lake house," he muttered, knowing that Taehyung would think his idea was ridiculous. Instead, Taehyung's eyes lit up as he gasped. "Jeongguk, that's actually a really good idea. I've always wanted to spend holidays somewhere homey like that. We can look at some when we get home, okay?" Jeongguk nodded, his lips drawn into a shy smile. Taehyung finished off his burger and wiped his hands on his pants, earning a playful scowl from Jeongguk.

"There are literally napkins right here," he scoffed, gesturing to the unused napkins on the table. "And there are literally a perfectly good pair of pants right here," Taehyung retaliated, mimicking Jeongguk's movements. Jeongguk rolled his eyes and tucked a strand of hair behind his ear. Taehyung took the opportunity to show Jeongguk what he had stashed in his pocket. "I'm giving you a Christmas gift early," he smirked, knowing how much Jeongguk hated opening gifts early. "Taehyung," he droned in an unamused tone. "I know I know, but trust me, you'll love it," he giggled excitedly as he pulled out the small package from his pocket.

"Look." Taehyung held out a pair of friendship bracelets. They were 'yin and yang' bracelets, one of them holding the 'yin' charm with braided black string, and the other holding the 'yang' charm with braided white string. Despite not enjoying early gifts, Jeongguk couldn't help but feel his heart swell. "Tae, these are really cute," he cooed. "But, why friendship bracelets?" Taehyung smiled with endearment fresh in his eyes as he gazed at the bracelets. "Because I want to remain your friend, no matter what happens in the future." His eyes flickered up to meet Jeongguk's, an overwhelming confidence behind them.

"Even if we stray away from each other or if you grow to hate me, I'll always be here for you as a friend-- your friend," he grinned cheekily. Jeongguk couldn't help but tear up at the gesture. It was so ridiculous, yet so meaningful and beautiful all at the same time. "You're such a sap," he sniffled, quickly wiping his tears away. "So, which one do you want?" After careful consideration, Jeongguk finally chose the 'yin' bracelet. He tied it onto his wrist and admired it. "Here," Taehyung said as he held his wrist out, the 'yang' bracelet hanging loosely from it. Jeongguk put his next to Taehyung's, smiling at the sight.

He looked back up at Taehyung's haze-free eyes, an eruption of butterflies occurring within his stomach. They leaned in, their lips connecting momentarily. Jeongguk giggled as they parted, completely forgetting about any insecurity or past burdens. All that mattered was Taehyung in that moment. He took stress off of Jeongguk so easily and let his mind wander to the false reality that he often traveled to with him.

Jeongguk felt protected and ultimately loved by the gorgeous man in front of him-- the man that let him into his hazy world.

Fin.
