Chapter 14

The scream had disrupted the quiet atmosphere of the ball.

Quickly we scrambled up from our seats.

"What was that?! " asked Hyegong, a anxious expression across his face.

"I'm not sure but it's coming from the southern hallway." Quickly, I run towards one of the stairways in the corner, " we can use this to get there faster."

As we ran up the stairs, I looked from the corner of my eyes down on the ballroom, unfortunately, the music had masked it - only barely.

Finally, we had reached the source of the scream.

Kicking open the door, we had come across the scene with the body of a young noble lady, laying in a heap on the floor. Blood could be seen vividly flowing from her neck.

'shit'  was exactly what we thinking, quickly we rushed towards her.

Lifting his robes, Hyegong pressed two fingers onto her  wrist, checking for a pulse. After what seemed like hours, he sighed.

" Thankfully, the wound didn't injure any major parts so she'll be fine but we'll have stop the bleeding."

I nodded before tearing a piece of the veil and skirt and wrapped it around her neck. It wasn't perfect but it was better than nothing.

"Let's get her out of here quickly." I said, as I lifted one arm over my shoulder.

We would have gotten out of the room had the door not been locked.

"Why isn't it opening!" exclaimed Hyegong as he struggled with the lock.

" I don't know but something tells me that we aren't alone...."

Slowly we turned and found ourselves confronted with quite a number of the masked men.

'Life just sucks, huh.'

I thought as they unsheathed their swords.

(Meanwhile/ Alexander pov)

Okay where the hell is that guy!

Searching around, I could barely see Will at all. All it took was a second and he's out of my sight. Looking around, I couldn't help but sigh, in the end their all the same. So far, I already had like 15 nobles introducing me their daughters, hoping for one of them to marry me. 

If it were my way, I would have killed them all, however that would threaten diplomatic relations and most likely cause war. Taking another sip from the grape juice, I thought I could faintly hear a scream.

 I was about to follow the sound of the scream when suddenly, a gunshot rang through the air. 

In the middle of the ballroom, stood (who was that guy again?) Baron schweiss, an important figure or something as a hole was visibly seen through his chest as blood flowed out. In a matter of seconds, he collapsed on the floor dead.

Screams and shouts were heard immediately as people panicked and guards attempted to calm the guests down.

" YOUR HIGHNESS!"

 Running towards me was Alfred , he looked a little disheveled but worry seem to be the main focus.

"Alfred ....."

looking over his shoulder, I could vividly see the (stupid)King and queen being escorted out with the rest of the nobles.

Those damn.....

"EVERYONE BE QUIET!"

Immediately silence reigned upon us, standing on the stage was prince Julius ( I seriously need to get revenge on him).  However, I had to admit there was a certain amount of admiration I gave him.
