Ellie's POV:

I sat in front of the mirror applying the last thing to my look, which was my lipstick as I couldn't help but glance at myself over and over again, worried that I didn't look presentable.

I was wearing a royal blue dress that was skin tight to my body, with a train behind me.

One strap of the blue fabric covered my left shoulder, as a diamond necklace hung from my neck along with my matching earrings.

My hair was in its natural form as my makeup was quite minimal.

My shoes were a silver color, as I stood tall and proud.

I put on one last coat of the red lipstick before grabbing the cap from the counter and clicking it back onto the bottle.

I gave my hair one last fluff before setting the lipstick down as I walked out of the bathroom and to my bedroom door I went.

Confidence was something I never had. Even as a teen, I struggled a lot with mental issues.

Mainly about my appearance.

Many people would say I was a so-called 'catch' or that I was just as beautiful as my mother was. But I found that to be ridiculous.

I looked more like my father than her. Or at least mom said that.

And Anthony, on the other hand, resembled both.

Lucky bastard.

I shook off my some of my worries as I reached for the handle and opened my door to find Nikolai walking up the stairs.

His head immediately popped up when he heard the click of my door, causing me to be startled.

He wore a simple black and white tux as his wavy black hair stayed in its natural form.

His shoes were polished and sleek as tile as his eyes couldn't help themselves by traveling down my body.

I closed the door behind me as I couldn't help but gaulk at him just a little.

He looked very handsome.

He looked amazing.

Which only made me more self-conscious.

"You look nice." I said with a small smile at the corner of my mouth.

His eyebrows raised. "Ellie Brown giving me a compliment? I must have done SOMETHING good."

I rolled my eyes.

Of course, he had to return with a sarcastic comment.

"Can we go now? I would much rather be in my pajamas watching a movie or something that is going to this party with you."

He scoffed. "A movie? Do you actually like movies?"

I shrugged my shoulders. "Yes? What the hell is wrong with movies?" I replied in an annoyed tone.

"They are boring. Their predictable. They make no sense. Their not real. Must I go on?"

I narrowed my eyes in his direction and didn't respond as I didn't feel a response to him was worth the suffering.

He held out his arm as he waited for me to wrap mine around his.

When I didn't move, he growled. "Come on, El. I know you don't want to go anymore than I do. But we have to act like we are at least going together."

I sighed. I really didn't want to go with him. If anything, I would honestly rather kill myself. But I did what I was asked of, and soon my arm was around his.
