A/N: Can I just start by saying that I don't like this chapter - I dread to think how long I've tinkered with it, but it still won't go exactly how I want it 😠 so I'm just going to post it and move on. But what I wanted to convey in this chapter is that Chris is still acting weird because he's nervous and it's starting to freak Becca out a bit. She's starting to wonder if it's because of her...

Becca was worried that the car ride was going to be awkward with Chris's weird mood, but the driving seemed to relax him, and after a while he seemed a bit better.
'So, Scotty's got everything we need then?' She asked.
'He says so.'
'What're the chances that he's actually bought the right things?'
'Well, flour's just flour, isn't it?' Chris said with a shrug.
Becca snorted and shook her head. 'No, flour's not just flour - there's lots of different types. See, this is why you're terrible at cooking.'
Chris laughed. 'That and lots of other reasons. But don't worry, I think he got everything right - he told me that he was at the store the other day buying it all and getting a bit confused and a little old lady took pity on him and helped him out.'
'Really?' Becca asked with a laugh.
'Yeah, apparently she took the list and walked him round the whole store, telling him exactly what to get.'
'Aww, that's sweet. I'm sure he's got the right things then - little old ladies know what they're talking about.'
'So, does your mum know you're making her a cake?' She asked after a minute.
'No, we decided to keep it a secret.'
'Is that so you can surprise her?'
'Well yeah, partly that and partly in case it goes like, you know: 'nailed it!' He joked.
'Huh?' Becca said, confused.
'You know, like the tv show.'
'What tv show?' Becca asked.
'Nailed It!'
Becca shook her head slightly, still confused.
'You've never seen Nailed It!?' He asked incredulously.
'Seen it? I've never even heard of it.' She admitted.
'No way!'
'Maybe it hasn't really transferred across the pond.'
'But you guys have Netflix over there, don't you?'
'Yes. Maybe I've just missed it. Is it a baking show?'
'Yeah - it's hilarious! I'll show you later.'
'Okay.'

'This is me.' He said a while later, pulling onto the driveway of a house on a surprisingly normal-looking street. 'Looks like Scotty's already here.' He gestured towards the car that was parked near the house.
'This is your house?' Becca asked, surprised.
'Yeah, why? Don't you like it?'
'No, it's not that. It's great, just not what I expected.'
'What were you expecting?'
'I don't know, something a bit flasher.' Becca admitted. 'Like a huge mansion with a solid gold plant pots maybe.' She joked.
Chris laughed. 'All the solid gold stuff's inside.' He joked.
'It's not actually mine.' He added. 'It's a rental - I sold my place a while ago and I haven't had time to find somewhere else yet.'
'Ah.'
Becs waited while he got the mixer out of the car boot and they walked towards the house.
'Oh, hang on, I just gotta check the mailbox.' Chris said, turning back. 'I'm waiting for a contract.'
He shifted the mixer from one arm to the other and reached in his pocket for the keys. Becca watched as he tried to hold the mixer and find the right key on the keyring.
'Can I help?' She asked. 'You don't look like you've got enough hands.'
Chris laughed. 'Yeah, you're right, I don't. Thanks.' He said, holding out the keys. 'It's the small blue one.' He added.
'Anything in there?' He asked as she unlocked it and peered in.
'Just this one thing.' Becca said, pulling out an envelope. 'It looks like junk mail though - it's just addressed to: The Occupier, 2345 Third Street, Bedford, MA.'
Chris let out an annoyed huff of breath. 'Looks like I'm gonna have to call my agent and get them to resend it.'
'Thanks anyway.' He added after Becca relocked the mailbox and handed him the keys.
'No problem.'

'We're here.' He called out as they walked into the house.
'Finally!' Scotty's voice came from another room. 'I was beginning to think that you were never gonna get here.' He said, coming through.
'Sorry about that.' Chris said to him.
'Hey Becs.' Scotty said, coming over and giving her a quick hug and a kiss on the cheek. 'How've you been?'
'Good thanks.'
'Been checking out those obituaries?' He asked with a grin.
Becca laughed. 'Oh yes, night and day.'
'You know, Becs has never seen Nailed It!' Chris said to Scotty.
'No way! We're gonna have to fix that.'
'So, are you ready to help us make this cake?' Scotty added, nodding towards what Becca assumed was the kitchen.
'Yeah. I'm kind of curious to see if you're both really as bad as Carly said.' Becca laughed.
'Oh, we are.' Scotty said emphatically, and walked through into a huge kitchen.
'Wow!' She breathed, looking around at the endless surfaces and the gleaming appliances. 'This kitchen is amazing - I think you could fit most of my flat in here.' Becca said. 'Plus, everything is so shiny.'
'Not solid gold though...' Chris joked.
Becca laughed.
'Right, well I guess we should get going, or we'll be here all night.' She said.
'Not me.' Scotty replied. 'Me and Nick have got a dinner reservation at six, so you're on your own if it's not finished by then.'
I guess that answers the question of whether Scotty's staying for pizza and movies.
'That's three hours away, I'm sure we'll be done by then.'
