12. I'm sorry...

I ended up at another cave of the enchanted lake.
Mal was there and looked at me startled.
"What are you doing here?!"
"I... I escaped..."
"From what?!"
"The dungeons. I got help from... My father..."
"What?!"
"Where is Cj?"
"She's sitting in a room in your hallway. Her room is also bewitched just like yours was before."
"Damn it!"
"Okay, rewind... Captain Haak is still alive?!"
"Yes. That surprised me too..."
I shook my head and started walking towards Auradon prep.
Mal came after me.
"So Beauty and Beast have locked him up all this time... And they never told anyone..."
"Yes! I know! But I have to explain it to Cj. And that I didn't betray her. Ben-"
"Harry, look!" Mal pointed to one of the trees.
I rolled my eyes.
"Yes I know. Here in Auradon, the trees are green."
"I didn't mean that. Is that...?"
I followed her gaze.
"Cj!"
Apparently Cj was shocked because she almost fell out of the tree.
"Harry?!"
" What are you doing there?"
"I escaped from that stupid room. The thing which you didn't succeed."
She laughed and I looked at Mal.
"You said that room was also bewitched, didn't you?"
"See! I knew you wanted to keep me there! You wanted to get me here!"
"No! I didn't mean it that way at all!"
"Are you going to tell Ben I'm sitting here?"
"Why should I?"
"Because you're so good at betraying me!"
"I would never betray you! Ben promised me you could stay on the island!"
"And I have to believe that?"
"I almost killed him. As a result, I was locked up in the dungeons in the palace."
"How did you get here then?!"
"Thanks to father!"
"Father?"
Cj looked at me dumbfounded.

I looked away and then back at Cj.

Cj looked at me furiously. I had already seen that she held the tree tightly so that she would not fall.
Mal looked at me.
"Harry, I have to go to Evie and the boys..." she whispered.
" Go ahead."
She gave me a kiss on the cheek and ran off.
"Cj come down and I'll explain everything."
"No."
"Cj..."
"No!"
The branch she had put her feet on broke and Cj was startled.
"AAH!" She quickly grabbed anotther branch.
"Cj!"
"Harry! Help!"
"Easy! I'll get you out!"
I climbed up to Cj and she looked at me scared.
"I can't keep this up!"
"I'm almost there. Don't look down!"
"That's what I'm trying to do!"
When I was almost there, the branch she was holding broke and she fell. I could just grab her arm.
"I've got you!"
I made sure I had a better grip on her and climbed down. On the floor she hugged me.
"Thank you!" I wrapped my arms around her.
"You don't think I'd let you fall, do you?"
She let go of me and stepped back.
"Shit..."
"What?"
"Behind you!"
I looked behind me and I saw some of Ben's guards coming.
"I know a place to go. Follow me!"
Cj nodded and I sprinted to the cave.
She dived after me. I gestured to her to be quiet and she looked at me tensely.
We saw the guards walking by in front of the cave.
We waited until we were sure it was safe and Cj breathed a sigh of relief.
"You saved me..."
"Of course. You are my sister. Do you really think I'd leave you on your own?"
"Did Ben really promise you?"
" Yes... I'm sorry you're stuck here too..."
"I'm sorry."
"For what?"
"I called you a liar and a loser... And yet you just saved me..."
"Cj, I was a liar on the island and I also told people I was, but Auradon changed me. And I would always save you. Even if you tried to kill me."
"Really?"
"That's what I'm your brother for."
Cj wanted to say something but we heard voices coming closer.
"They must be here somewhere..." said a familiar voice.
And before we knew it, Mal, Evie, Jay and Carlos were standing in front of us. Cj looked at me with relief.
"I thought for a moment that those guards were back."
"Would you have preferred that?" asked Jay with a chuckle.
"No!" said Cj and I at the same time.
"So they are really just the same..." Evie said softly to Carlos.
"Guys, Ben has gone crazy. Look!"
"Is that Ben?!" asked Carlos, startled.

We ran towards the lake.
Then I saw what Mal meant. Ben was like a beast?!
Cj chuckled.
"And that's that AK king?"
"No time for jokes Cj!" said Jay.
Mal looked at Beast Ben.
"What happened...?"
"Guys... Is that Audrey?!" I asked in surprise.
"Oh goblins!" cried Evie.
" My mother's scepter!" said Mal, startled.
At that moment Audrey looked at Mal and pointed the scepter at her. Mal was still looking towards Ben and I saw it happen. Jay and Carlos were puking again. Evie wanted to stop them and then everything seemed to go in
slow motion.
Audrey had fired a spell and just before it hit Mal I jumped in front of her. Cj seemed shocked. I felt the spell go inside me and I didn't notice anything anymore...
