26. Now or Never

That night Mal was home and with tears in her eyes she walked over to me.
"I'm sorry..."
She wrapped her arms around her and I put mine around her.
Then I saw that there were guards behind her.
I was arrested and locked up in a small cell in the palace.
Belle walked over to me.
"Harry... How could you?"
"It was an accident... I didn't do it on purpose."
"Tomorrow it will be up to the court. I want you to know that I believe you. But beast..."
"...not so much."
"Micheal will be king tomorrow morning and the hearing in the afternoon. I hope you are spared. You are the only one who understands Micheal."
I sighed.
Belle walked away and I looked at the wall.
"I'm not spared anyway. Accidentally or not. I killed the king of Auradon..."
I closed my eyes.

The next day an Ipad came in front of me so that I could see the coronation of Micheal.
He looked really depressed... I didn't know him like that at all. 
After he was crowned, Mal stood next to him and wrapped her arms around him.
At Ben's, people were still cheering. Now everyone was quiet. Of the mourning or of Micheal's reaction?

Moments later, two guards grabbed me and I was taken to the courtroom.
Fine... I have a lawyer, three to guess who? Cj. This is going to go wrong...
The judge looked at me with envy.
"Harry Hook, you have been charged with the murder of King Benjamin. What is your statement."
"It was an accident."
"So you admit?"
"Ben was in beastly form. He wanted to attack me, I pushed him away from me and he fell over the railing."
"So you killed King Benjamin?"
"It wasn't on purpose."
Cj stood up.
"Your Honor, my client made a mistake and did not do it on purpose."
I looked at her in amazement, Auradon changed her more than it changed me.
The judge looked at the jury (also people from the court).
"The jury, what is your verdict?"
One of those people stood up.
"We withdraw for a while and come up with a decision."
They walked away and I looked at Cj.
"Since when are you a lawyer?!"
"Shut up, since a few months. I'm going to help you okay? You just have to stay calm like you just did."
"Do you believe me?"
"Yes, you are my big brother."
Mal looked at me anxiously when the jury came back.
The judge looked at them.
"Jury?"
"We have decided that, Harry Hook, is guilty of the murder of King Benjamin. His punishment will be an execution, tomorrow morning in the square."
"No!" screamed Mal.
The judge struck with the wooden hammer and the decision was made.

Dumbfounded, I was taken to a cell and locked up.
I sat down.
"An execution..." I muttered.
Incredulously, I sat there.
Knowing that my life would end.
Knowing that I couldn't help Micheal.
Knowing that I would never see Mal again.

The next day I was taken to the square.
Mal looked at me with tears in her eyes and Micheal was already crying.
I was pushed onto my knees and everyone looked at me incredulously and shocked.
Micheal was brought forward, he had to give the sign.
He walked backwards.
"I can't..." he muttered.
Belle embraced him.
"I'm so sorry Micheal." she said to him.
Beast nodded to the good fairy that she had to take her staff.
Belle held Micheal.
He wanted to stop the Good Fairy.
She looked at me and said without sound:
*I'm sorry Harry*
I closed my eyes and the voice of the good fairy sounded almost in slow motion.
"You gave a punch more often and let people bled..."
I heard Mal cry louder and Micheal started screaming.
"No!" he shouted.
"Harry!" screamed Mal.
"... But from now on you are..."
The good fairy stopped briefly and I looked at her.
She pointed the staff to herself.
"... Dead."
And she dropped dead.
"No!" several people shouted and Jane ran crying to her mother's body.
"Mom! No... No!"
Carlos tried to comfort her and Mal looked at me.
"I use my powers like a button now time stops!"
And I didn't feel anything anymore.

Mal pov:
I had stopped time, temporarily.
Fairy godmother was dead. Jane was completely devastated and Harry was still alive. To see Beast's expression, not for long.
I walked over to Harry and kissed him.
"I'm going to try to save you later. But I'm afraid I'll lose you soon."
I walked to Micheal who was completely upset.
"I hope it goes well Micheal..."
Jane who was with her dead mother.
"I'm so sorry Jane."
Unbelievable that FGM sacrificed herself for Harry.
Everyone was still standing still.
Not for long.
I had to do something.
I could probably do something with magic.
I quickly went back where I was and time continued.

Harry pov:
I noticed that we could move again and Mal seemed a bit calmer. What had she done?
I looked at her but she looked away and started running.
Maybe she wasn't calmer either...
Beast looked at one of the guards furiously.
"Give me your gun!"
I was shocked.
So the time had come.
Micheal screamed even louder, Mal was gone, Good Fairy killed herself for me and now Beast would shoot me.
He pointed the gun at me and I looked at him.
"I understand that you want to kill me. But I never wished Ben dead or wanted to kill him."
Beast looked at me enviously.
"It's what you wanted, now your son is king. That's what you secretly wanted!"
"No! Then look at Micheal! Does it look like he wanted to be king? No! But if you don't believe me, shoot me. Then at least you are satisfied. Right?!"
Everyone looked at Beast in shock.
For a moment it seemed as if he lowered the gun but he looked at me furiously.
"You've earned it Hook!"
I heard a bang and fell to the ground.
I wasn't dead yet... Just not...
You couldn't move.

I looked carefully and saw Micheal sitting next to me.
"Dad!"
He cried and I looked at him partly.
"I'm sorry Micheal... You... must do it alone..."
My voice weakened and my vision diminished.
Micheal hugged me and I felt him cry.
Everyone else was quiet and I started to feel light.
Was that dying?
I didn't know and I closed my eyes.
I deserved it. Killing someone and then being killed yourself. That's how it sounds pretty logical.
Thinking became more difficult and everything became lighter.
Micheal's crying faded and I began to feel less and less pain.
