There's nothing more I want in life than to be free of drama. Of course, that's the only thing I can't have. Between dealing with my superhero of a boyfriend and sister, while an evil villain is on the loose terrorizing Paris, I barely get a moment of rest. I'm sure it sucks more to be Ladybug, though Marinette doesn't share many details of the extent of her troubles. Marinette is the type to bottle everything up until she explodes; overload herself with duties and then regret it later on.

Adrien tends to go with the flow. Unless it has something to do with his father. He constantly tries too hard to get his father's attention....well it's more than that. He wishes his father paid attention to him. And I don't mean this in a bad way.

"Hey, Y/N, you're zoning out on me again," Adrien says, waving a hand in front of my face. He stretches out over his bed, taking off his white blazer/shirt thing. He rarely ever takes it off. I think he might even sleep in it. "What are you thinking about?"

I blink. "Oh. I'm just.." Narrating a story in my head? "I'm just thinking about the homework for tomorrow. And about...Hawkmoth." It's true. He flashed across my brain a couple of times. I mean..who is he? Nearly everyone in this goddamn city has been akumatized, so it has to be one of them. Unless Hawkmoth is secretly a foreigner. I don't know.

"Dad wants me to do another photo shoot for him," Adrien says, changing the subject airily. "He's inviting Audrey Bourgeois to town again. Something about a new magazine." Adrien groans. "I'm sick of it, honestly."

Something about the fact that I mentioned Hawkmoth and Adrien said the word 'Dad' in the next sentence makes me wonder....

"Why don't you just quit modeling?" I shrug, laying back on his chest. "Would it be that difficult to let your Dad down once in a while?"

"I can't," Adrien says. He looks ashamed to say this. "It's the only time I ever see him, really." He runs a hand through his hair. "And sometimes he isn't even there."

Adrien's expression turns usually somber. "I'm kind of tired, Y/N. It's been a long day." He taps his foot against the bed. "See you tomorrow?"

I'm surprised that he doesn't ask me to stay, but I don't question it. "Yeah, of course." I slide off his bed, grabbing my coat. "Sorry about the party, I know Damon was being an asshole—" I cut myself off. Why the fuck would I bring that up again? "Uh, I'll see you tomorrow."

Adrien nods to himself, scratching the back of his head. "Bye, Y/N."

I make my way outside his bedroom, waving to Natalie before heading down the stairs. To my surprise,  none other than Gabriel Agreste is standing by the door. He's flicking through a large book, tapping away at some code on the door.

"Y/N," he whirls around, nearly as surprised to see me as I am to see him. It's weird, because I'm here like half the time. His eyes flick to the stairs. "Were you just up with Adrien?" Gabriel's eyes narrow. "I didn't hear you come in."

Oh...that's because your son is Cat Noir and he swung me in through the window.

"Uh...yeah, I guess I was quiet," I say nervously. "I should be getting home now. See you later."

"Hm," is all he says. "I expect to be seeing you quite soon."

His words send a chill down my spine.
