My Heart's Secret Longing

We're friends, so close, so tight,

Spent our days in each other's light,

But deep within, a secret I'd keep,

A love for him, so strong, so deep.

I watched him laugh, I watched him smile,

And besides him, I'd sit awhile,

But in the shadows, I'd quietly pine,

For the love I knew would never be mine.

Oh, him, the one I can't forget,

A love that's buried, a secret I've kept,

My heart aches, my soul's on fire,

For the friend I crave, my one desire.

Late-night talks, beneath the stars,

Dreaming of a love that's near and far,

But he found love in someone else's eyes,

While I concealed my love in silent cries.

I've hidden this love, kept it inside,

A treasure of pain, where my feelings reside,

But I'll cherish our friendship, though love's a chore,

For in my heart, he'll always be more.

Time moves on, our lives do change,

But my love for him remains the same,

I wish he'll be there for me, through thick and thin,

Even though my heart aches, and I can't win.

So, I write this poem, my heart laid bare,

A love unspoken, a cross to bear,

But in friendship's light, I'll find my way,

Though my love for him will never fade away.

I Love You, Aaron. I Miss You.
