Love In Hushed Tones

In a world where friendship's bloom did grow,

A girl in love, her heart's soft glow.

Her dearest friend, the one she'd cherish,

Yet in her heart, her love would perish.

He, her confidant, in ignorance bliss,

Dreamt of another's gentle kiss.

Unbeknownst to him, her feelings deep,

In the secret corners of her soul, they'd keep.

Silent love, a fragile song,

In the night, it played along.

But fears of shattering the bond they'd made,

Kept her heart in the shadows, in the silent shade.

Slowly, she began to fade from view,

Her laughter softer, her smiles fewer too.

She thought that distance would heal her heart,

To mend the love she feared to start.

For in her mind, rejection's sting,

Could break the ties that friendship would bring.

So, she chose to bear her love alone,

A love unspoken, a story unknown.
