Five years

Have gone.

They passed me by

Like a summer breeze.

Blowing my hair around my face

For only a moment before,

It was all past me.

It's taken a while,

But it's as if everything has just

Shifted into place,

Like planets aligning.

Because, from our house

By the ocean, I can see the stars at night.

I sleep next to you

And I no longer meet you

In my dreams because you're here,

With me,

Every single day.

It hasn't been plain sailing,

So to speak;

University was difficult, and

Although I had friends to make things

Easier, the hardest part

Was not having you around.

However,

Even now,

We never run out of things to say. Despite our lives having

Taken their individual turns.

Our love has yet to fade, I think.

I can't believe how this has happened,

But you make me completely and extraordinarily happy.

The sight of you still leaves me giddy.

They way you touch me

Leaves me feeling like sunbeams and moonbeams combined

Have tinged my skin.

And when you kiss me, the rain pours down.

And it feels like we're everywhere, neither belonging

Or lost.

I need you still

And I know,

We'll make it somehow.
