Chapter Fourteen:

Sunday morning, I wake up amongst my cool sheets, my mind clear and my body relaxed. On any other morning, I would usually feel on edge after having to go to bed with Ariella on my mind, but not this morning—with a plan fully formed, I take a quick shower before stepping out into the lounge area.

The faster I can get this out of the way, the quicker I can finally rid Ariella from my life.

Cole lounges lazily on his favourite couch, the remote stuck to his hand as he watches TV, his clothes still crinkled from sleep. I make my way over to him and kick the side of his foot. With a devious smile, I sit across from him as he eyes me suspiciously.

"What have you done?"

I snort. "Nada."

"What are you going to do?" He questions pointedly.

I lean forward eagerly. "I need you to throw a party and invite everyone you know."

His eyebrows raise slowly. "You need me to throw a party...on a Sunday?"

"."

"Do you seriously think this apartment is going to hold more than a couple of people? There's just no way."

"Bullshit, your backyard is bigger than your entire house, hold it out there."

He shakes his head with a sigh. "It's just too small here, Kade. Besides, if you so desperately wanna party it up, go to the bar. There's no work today, so you don't need to worry about Billy breathing down your neck every five minutes."

"I wanna hold a party here." I persist impatiently.

"Why?"

"Because house parties are always the best." I reply nonchalantly.

I decide to keep my plan about Ariella out of the conversation. All I need Cole to do is host the party.

He groans tiredly. "Why do you all of a sudden want to hold a party? Work is tomorrow, and I kinda don't want go to work with a hangover. No siree."

"Don't be a fuckin' coño. Hangovers are easily fixed." I roll my eyes. "I wanna meet more people; as cool as you are—" I start sarcastically, "—I'm not really a 'one friend' kinda guy. I need multiple friends."

"So you're finally admitting I'm a friend, huh?" He smirks. "You would have more friends if you gave Tristan a chance and you got along with Sally. Then there's Ariella, but you always seem to act weird whenever she's around..." He eyes me strangely. "What's up with that anyway?"

I ignore his last question. "No, you're not a friend, but I have to give you some sort of title don't I?"

"There's always 'acquaintance'."

I shake my head stiffly. "Whatever, you're missing the point, hombre."

Cole rolls his eyes in half annoyance and amusement. "We can do the party, and I'll invite everyone I know, but don't come moaning to me when you realise that this place is just too small for a party. We'll probably even have people leaving half-way through it, anyway."

I grin. "You wish I'd come moaning to you."

Jumping up out of my seat, I head to the kitchen to make a coffee. I'm ready to set the plan in motion—tonight is going to be easy. Put on my best outfit, add on some unforgettable cologne, and prerpare for a night of flirting. As much as I wish it could be with a random chica, tonight it'll be with Ariella; maybe even give her a couple of drinks, get her a little tipsy, and the information I'm looking for should follow. Things should be simple from there on.
