Chapter 15- Now What?

I stand there numbly, staring out at my city, for what seems like forever. Aaron held onto me for a bit then left to sort things out, seeing as I wasn't in the shape to do it. The council was currently in a circle discussing what to do while Grayson sticks close to me.

No one wants to face me right now, they don't know how I will react.

"Lilith?" Grayson looks over at me. I am silent. "Lilith. I'm not gonna stop until you answer." He warns me.

"Lilith. Lily. Lily. Lily. Lily. Lily. Lily. Lilith. Li-"

"Shut UP!" I snap.

"I knew you could speak!" He smirks.

"Grayson, I don't know if your little human brain can't comprehend this, or you just don't care, but when someone's home is destroyed, its not a happy time. I suggest you leave me alone." I say calmly. A bit too calmly.

"I know that, but you can't just stand here. Look at all these people! They don't even know what to do because you have to lead them. We are just standing here. And some people actually need food and sleep daily."

"Aaron has taken control over things." When I look over at Aaron, I am painfully reminded that I have to break up with him soon. It can't be avoided much longer. Much. It still can be.

Realizing Grayson is right, I make my way over to where the council has gathered.

"Give me an analyzed explanation of our situation," I say.

"Well, The homes are damaged beyond repair and must be rebuilt from scratch. The palace is secure, however some of the inside is broken or was wrecked by the water. the weak beam in Subterranean is even more frail, it could snap too easily and if we risk trying to fix it, we may make it worse. Its not looking good, i'm afraid." Orazio summarizes. I nod.

"I see. What have you come up with so far?" I ask.

"I suggested," Aaron starts, "That until we figure out a permanent plan, everyone is temporarily moved into your palace. There are enough rooms, if we split everyone up. Like a room per family or something. Some can even stay in the hall ways or other rooms."

He looks at me for confirmation, for my approval. I'm not too keen on having this many people in my palace, but at this point I don't even care. Its the best they have come up with, and I wont complain.

"We should send a group in there to make sure everything is ready before sending everyone in there." I say.

"Good idea," Aaron smiles at me.

Just then, something dawns on me. "Ill be back," I say, before turning around. Grayson grabs my arm.

"Where are you going?" Instead of answering, I slow down enough that he can follow me if he wants. He does.

I step through the rubble on the ground until I reach it. My garden. My once beautiful fake garden. The bench isn't there anymore, and the tree is snapped in half. I have to step over the log. I pick up a plastic rose on the ground, Its still wet. Grayson looks over my shoulder at it.

"Is that a rose?"

"Yes," I whisper. He will never see what my garden looked like. No one will ever see it again. The one place that looked like the Above, my reminder of what was up there, gone.

"Did it... Was it special to you or something?" He asks.

"This used to be a garden. Like the gardens Above. With plants and flowers," I explain.

"I know what a garden is. But theres lots of gardens where I used to live, just find another one." I turn to stare at him. He stares back until it dawns on him the mistake he made. "Oh! never mind, sorry about that." He scratches the back of is head.

I sigh. "Its fine,"

"You must be pretty broken to forgive me just like that," He looks at me. "Are you okay?"

"What do you think, Grayson?" Instead if answering me, he pulls me into a hug. i wrap my arms around him, too, and his scent surrounds me. In this position, I am a bit too close to his neck, but strangely enough, I don't even notice.

 I know this chapter is shorter than usual, the next one will be longer!  This book is slowly coming to an end, ill only be making like 5 more chapters. 20 in total. Anyways I hope you enjoy, vote comment and share :)
