Ari's POV

"--ck?"

Scar pretty much instantly slapped me upside the head for my word choice. I groaned, but quickly lost interest in my throbbing temple, choosing instead to focus on the bubbly blonde currently hanging upside-down from our ceiling.

My head cocked to the side.

I sweat dropped.

"You're kidding, right?" I moaned, face-palming as epically as Scar did all those days ago with the table. "How did we... WHY THE HELL DID WE NOT NOTICE THE GODDAMN AIR DUCT RIGHT ABOVE OUR FREAKING HEADS?"

Scar slapped a hand over my mouth, cutting off my rant, much to my displeasure.

"Ari, there are still a very decent amount of men in this building who, given the chance, would very much enjoy disembowling you," she hissed calmly in my ear. I nodded mutely, and she dropped her hand. We both, after sharing a look, glanced up at Violet.

"What the hell are you doing here?" we chorused.

Vi giggled, which I expected, and gripped the edge of the duct before flipping rightside-up and dropping down to the ground. She (not unexpectedly) lunged for us, knocking the three of us to the ground in a messy heap only worthy of the Hayes triplets. And then she was crying, and I was sorta crying, and Scar was complaining about a lack of oxygen, which just made Violet squeeze us harder.

As soon as Vi released us, Scarlette smacked the back of her head.

"Owie!" Violet cried, giving Scarlette the most adorable puppy dog pout ever concocted by human beings. I had to turn away, afraid I'd fall under her annoyingly effective spell. Scar just raised a brow.

"Violet, in all our fourteen years together, I don't think you've done anything as ridiculously asinine as right now."

"But I wanted to rescue you!" she countered childishly.

Scar looked to me for help, but I just shrugged helplessly. I didn't know how to explain the situation any better than she did. So we ended up having a ten minute long staring contest, during which Vi used every adorable look she had at her disposal.

Scar remained unmoved.

"Let's just go!" I exclaimed suddenly, making Scar flinch and Vi cheer excitedly. I grinned wildly at Scar. "C'mon, what's the worst that could happen? We were already gonna die! Let's give ourselves a fighting chance!"

"Great!" Vi chirped. "I'll get Suki!"

My eye twitched. "Suki?"

"She's unconscious, don't worry!" Vi assured me.

"Eh?"

This is where Vi explained to us everything that had happened since we'd been abducted by the Akatsuki (really, how many other people who weren't housing some serious demons could say that?). The Sand Siblings went off to do their Chunin Exams thing, Kiba was distraught (I felt like strangling Obito) and Vi had somehow (she refused to tell us how) convinced Suki to help her find this Akatsuki base so she could rescue us.

So Scar felt obligated to tell Vi what had happened. She took Tobi's true identity pretty well, all things considering. Though she did wail "Nooooo! My Tobi-kun!!" for a while before Scar slapped her again. Meh. This was becoming a somewhat regular occurence, I guess.

"Well anyway," I said breezily, jumping to my feet and hauling Scar up after me; Vi jumped up excitedly with a squeak. "Like I said, it's better to just take a chance. Since when the hell have I even been cautious anyway?"
