Troubled sister

chapter 8

"Hailey Paige!" I hear drew yell and i quickly get up
"What is going on?" He yells
"He's a friend drew" I say standing up
"Isn't that the kid I told you to stay away from?!" He yells
"He's my friend drew" I say as Dylan comes and stands next to me
"I don't care! I told you to stay away from him! I don't need any bad influences rubbing off on you!" He yells
"But-" I try to say
"Get out!" He says sternly to Dylan "I don't want to see y'all together ever again!"
Dylan hurrys out the house leaving me and drew. This isn't going to be good.
"What the hell drew?!" I say angrily
"I don't want to hear a word from you! You're grounded for a while" he says angrily
"He's my friend drew" I say trying to reason with him
"I told you to stay away from him and you blatantly disobeyed me" he says angrily
I see him going for my phone and I grab it off my bed before he could get to it.
"Give it to me hailey, I'm not playing games" he says holding his hand out
He never gets angry at me nor has he ever grounded me.
"You can't ground me" I say
"Why the hell cant I?!" He yells
"You're not my dad. You have no right!" I say
"I'm in charge of you so I can ground you if I want to" he says trying to grab my phone from me
I run past him and out the front door.
"Hailey Paige get back here!" I hear him yell while running after me
I run and hide in someone's back yard and wait for him to pass. When I see he passes I run the opposite way. I finally get to a house and grab a key front under the door mat. I open the door and walk in. I turn the lights on and go to the refrigerator. I look until my eyes lock onto what I want.
"I'll pay you back tc" I say to myself as I grab a beer.
I open it and sit on the couch. Drew keeps calling me but I keep ignoring him. I dial a number.
"Pick up, pick up" I say to myself
"Hello?" I hear a man say
"Tc!" I say
"Hey hailey, I wasn't expecting a call from you" he says
"Surprise." I say "how's Syria?"
"It's great. How's home?" He asks
"Not so good" I say
"Whys that?" He asks
"Drew and I are just on a rocky path right now" I say
I hear commotion in the background.
"Hey hailey. I have to go. I'll call you soon" he says
"Bye T. Love you. Stay safe" I say
"Love you too" he says hanging up the phone
I throw my phone on the couch and grab another drink. When I finish drinking it I head out the door. I'm going to have to go home at some point and get this all over with, plus Brianna should be home so that means drew won't yell at me to bad.
I walk in the front door and see drew sitting with Brianna on the couch.
"Hey hailey" Brianna says
"Hi" I say going up the stairs
I get in my room and am about to close the door when drew catches it.
"I can't believe you hailey" he says
"I'm sorry" I say
"Where'd you go?" He asks
"Tc's" I say
He talks to me for a bit and to be honest I wasn't listening at all.

*one month later*

I'm getting worse and worse, I wish I could just be happy again. I've become more reliant on the pills and alcohol to keep me going. Life has been hard.
I'm at the hospital tonight; Brianna is staying at a friends house and Rick is on a mission with tc, who might I add came home from war a few weeks ago.
"Ready hailey?" Drew asks
"Yeah. I'll meet you and Rick outside" I say
"Okay" he says letting the door close.
Rick and tc brought in a ranger who was shot in action while they were on the mission so that's why he's here.
I grab my bag and head out the hospital. I see Tc.
"Hey T" I say
"Hey hailey" he says putting his arm around my shoulder.
"You going home?" I ask
"Yeah. I need a nap." He says
"Hey t?" I ask getting away from his grip
"Yeah lil one?" He asks
"Are you going back to Syria?" I ask
"I don't know. I was thinking about it" he says
"Oh" I say feeling a little disappointed
"Why?" He asks giving me a funny look
"I was just wondering. I gotta go meet Rick and drew before they leave me" I say
"Bye hailey!" He says
"Bye" I say
I find drew and Rick standing outside one of the entrances of the hospital.
"When were you planning on telling me you wanted to sign up for ranger training?" Rick asks sounding angry
"I signed up last month and I'm leaving on Tuesday" drew says
"Why wouldn't you of told me?" Rick asks
"We were all so busy and I just kept putting it off" he says
I just stand there shocked until I see Rick glance my way and his eyes widen. Drew looks my way and I just shake my head.
"Hailey" he says
"No need to explain. It's your life you can do whatever you want, even if it means not telling anyone and then abruptly leaving" I say passing them and getting into the truck
The car ride was silent. Drew and Rick would make eye contact and Rick would nudge his head towards me as if to tell drew to talk to me.
"Hailey can we talk?" Drew asks as I go inside and run upstairs
"About what?" I ask
"Me leaving" he says
"I'm not mad. I'm happy you're doing something for yourself" I say smiling at him
"You mean it?" He asks
"Of course I do drew. If you're happy I'm happy" I say and go up to my room
I close the door and fall to the ground.
How could he leave me? I should be happy for him but I'm not. I'm so selfish.

*the next night*

Today has been one of the worst days of my life. I haven't slept in days, like always, I've had so many panic attacks and nightmares it's unbelievable. I grab the shoe box from my closet and go into the bathroom. I need to escape for an hour.
