A"Are we going to stay here?" TJ asked, sitting down on the bed. He watched as I moved around the room, making sure that we were safe and not being recorded by anything. "I mean, you have heard the stories."

"And that is what they are, stories," I replied, walking over to the suitcases and opening them up. I stuffed what little clothes we brought into the dresser before turning to look at him. "Like the stories about me and how I killed your parents." I gave hoi a pointed look, causing him to shrug. "Besides, he said that he would send people to get us if I feel like we are being threatened by him."

"Do you feel threatened?" Clarity asked. She hugged a pillow to her chest and look at me. Curiosity filled her eyes, and I could tell that she didn't care about the rumors behind Xavier's name. She wanted to know the real him, the him that he was hiding from everyone else.

I paused for a moment to think about it and shook my head. "No," I said, honestly. "Not as threatened as I was with my ex-mate."

"I still don't trust him," TJ said, folding his arms across his chest. He gave me a stubborn look, causing me to raise an eyebrow. "He is making you into an Omega and is going to make you work long hours."

I shrugged. "It's better than sitting around feeling helpless and worthless," I replied. I sat down on the bed and sighed in relief to feel that it is comfortable, more comfortable than the floor that Camen had me sleep on. "You never know. He might not work me long hours and I get to spend time with you too." I nudged TJ, causing him to roll his eyes.

"Highly unlikely," TJ said, causing me to shrug. He shoved me gently. "What will we do when you are working?" he asked. "I have a feeling that you don't want us to be by ourselves while you are working for him."

I shrugged. "Maybe find someone that I can trust, ad let you two go play somewhere." I sighed and rubbed my eyes before looking at the door, sensing someone on the other side. "You can knock," I said. "You do not have to sneak."

The door opened to show the Beta. He looked around the room, and I guess he could tell that I didn't have that much stuff. "Luna Cassandra," he said, nodding his head to me in respect. "It is good to see you again." He stepped into the room and closed the door, making the small room feel even smaller.

"Beta Parker," I said, standing from where I was seated on the bed. I closed my eyes when the room swayed and let out a small breath. "I am fine," I said, opening my eyes to see him looking at me worriedly. "I just stood up too fast."

Beta Parker hesitated but nodded his head. He knew that I was hiding some stuff, and I could tell that he wanted to help. "I am sorry about the Alpha," he said, apologizing. "He... doesn't take kindly to..." He stopped when I held up my hand.

"I understand," I replied. "I have been through it as well."

Beta Parker nodded his head and cleared his throat. He moved a hand through his hair and grimaced. "I want to apologize for the loss of your "parents"," he said. "To you two as well," he added, glancing at TJ and Clara. "I would, also, like to apologize for the fact that the Alpha and myself were not there for the funeral." He looked at me, again and studied me, making me feel uncomfortable.

I shrugged my shoulder and grimaced. I could still remember the sneers on the pack members' faces when they looked at me as I followed my mate. I could still hear the words that they had muttered, causing the visiting Alphas and Betas to look at me curiously before their gaze turning to that of disgust. "Honestly, I am glad that you two didn't come," I said. I cleared my throat and licked my lips, looking away from. "It... wasn't a pretty sight."

TJ and Clara tensed beside me, because they knew what I meant. TJ placed his hand in mine and squeezed, again acting older than he was.

Parker raised an eyebrow. "How so?" he asked. He was curious as to why I said that, I could tell. He had heard some of the rumors, I was sure, but he was acting like he hadn't heard them or didn't care.

I smiled a little and shook my head. "I would rather not say," I said, honestly. "It still..." I shook my head again and cleared my throat. My whole body was tense as I waited for him to strike me because I wouldn't do what he had asked. "Why are you here, anyways?" I asked, changing the subject and praying that I wouldn't get hit. "I thought that the Alpha had ordered the pack to stay away from me."

Parker seemed to know that I had tensed and took a step back, signaling that he wouldn't hurt me. He watched as I tried to relax some while his face contorted to that of anger. "He did," he answered, coldly. He cleared his throat and stood straighter, trying to curb his anger. He offered me a forced smile, and I could tell that he was failing at keeping calm. "But, I think that you will need a friend and an ally."

I raised an eyebrow but didn't say a word.

"I would rather see that fiery girl at the conference rather than the broken girl I am seeing now. I know it is going to take a lot of work, but I want you to trust me. I promise to look after you and your cousins if you will let me."

I was hesitant. I had no idea as to why he wanted to help me and couldn't help but wonder if Xavier had placed him up to this. I didn't understand why Xavier didn't trust me and wondered if it was because of my uncle.

However, I knew that I was going to have to have another pair of eyes on the kids. I knew that I wouldn't be able to keep the near me while I worked and didn't want them to just sit around bored.

Hesitantly, I nodded my head, hoping that I wouldn't be making a mistake. "Ok," I said, my voice only a whisper. "I will trust you."
