Annabeth's POV

Blinking the remnants of sleep away, I glanced over at the clock on the nightstand. It read 5am, which considering that I had fallen asleep not long after 5pm, meant that I had managed to snag a rare twelve hours of sleep. Percy still slept, my ear pressed to his chest, hearing the reassuring steady beats. I found myself absentmindedly tracing patterns on his stomach with my fingertips. It wasn't too long before I felt him start to stir and I moved back to my side so that I'd be able to see his face.

"Morning," he said softly, turning his head to look down at me. "You been up long?" I shook my head slightly, pushing myself up to sit against the wall. "Only ten, twenty minutes or so. I feel surprisingly refreshed, I think that's the first time I've slept completely through a night in about two months."

"I don't wanna get up," Percy mumbled, pulling the covers up to his nose. "It's Sunday, lets just stay in bed all day." I felt the exact same way, but my rational and logical side knew that we had a lot to get done today. "I don't want to get up either but you know that we need to call Chiron and Reyna this morning, and we still have to cover some of the Maths syllabus. Plus I have to finish my graphic's homework to send in." He turned his face to look at me with puppy eyes, his lower lip stuck out.

"We don't have to get out of bed to iris message Chiron and Reyna though, as  long as you're fine with potentially the entirety of both camps seeing your bed head."

He didn't answer, and instead pulled himself into an upright position next to me, reaching for two of the drachma's that he'd left in his nightstand drawer. I picked up the spray bottle that typically sat by the bed and began to spray it lightly in front of us. "O' Fleecy do me a solid, and show me Reyna Avila Ramírez-Arellano at Camp Jupiter, and Chiron at Camp Half Blood." Percy chucked both coins into the light mist, and after a few seconds a connection formed with both camps. Fleecy had recently told us about this ability to have a multi iris message, so that you could communicate with more than one person at once. We'd never tried it before, but this was the perfect chance to try it out.

Chiron appeared to be working on some sort of paperwork in the Big House, whilst Reyna was in a training arena performing smooth movements with her spear. She jabbed at the air methodically, obviously following a practised routine, jumping a little when she turned in our direction - not expecting to see anyone. "Percy, Annabeth," she said as she caught her breath. "Oh, and Chiron also. What brings about such an unscheduled meeting?" Chiron looked up from his paperwork and dipped his head slightly to let us know that her would listen to what we had to say first. I took a deep breath, trying to format all the things that we needed to say.

"We're calling because we've got some updates on our ... situation ... but also because we have noticed a worrying increase in monster spawning, and were wondering if that is a wide spread occurrence. Last night on the way home Percy and I encountered a Chimera, and Hazel and Frank told us that on their way to meet us yesterday they encountered several Dracanae. Although we have been fighting more monsters recently we had attributed the gradual increase to simply being in society, and the constant exposure to technology. But Leo has adapted almost everything possible to reduce technology's effect on us, and Hazel and Frank only left camp for a couple of hours. If it's not just us, then maybe the monsters are planning something? I don't know why else we'd face so many more, especially if that's just limited to the area we're in now."

Chiron gestured towards Reyna, who looked as if she was ready to speak, to go first. "Frank did tell me on their return last night that they did encounter significantly more monsters than they had expected on their little excursion. I have not had any reports of increased monster activity at or in the surrounding area of Camp Jupiter, but there have been more injuries recently. The monsters that have spawned have definitely taken more effort to defeat, which has left more demigods with minor injuries than usual, but a worrying number have also been given injuries of a more serious nature. Everything is under control, and nectar and ambrosia are all that is needed to heal them, but I cant help but to think that there must be some link."
