Chapter Ten

Jasper had the bright idea to train for whatever's to come in front of Bella who was a fragile human, why? Don't ask me. Edward for some reason agreed and I had no input seeing as Bella wanted to know everything there is to know about our kind, the kind that kills people like her.

I stood next to Esme as we watched my two boys battle it out, it was hot but my mind was elsewhere. The pack had decided to show up to watch as well, all in their dog form which made me roll my eyes and cross my arms, these people are so on edge towards each other.

Edward walked over with Bella at his side, keeping a close eye on the pack, "they don't trust us enough to be in their human forms." He told Carlisle who didn't look the slightest bit surprised.

"They came, that's what matters. Will one of you translate?" He asked but didn't wait for an answer as he stepped forward. Paul began to growl at him making me shush him to be quiet, "welcome. Jasper has experience with newborns, he will teach us how to defeat them." Carlisle explained calmly.

"They want to know the how the newborns differ from us." Edward told his father, tapping into the shifters minds.

Carlisle nodded, "they're a great deal stronger than us because their own human blood lingers in their tissue. Our kind is never more physically powerful than our first several months of this life."

Jasper spoke next, "Carlisle is right. That's why they're created. A newborn army doesn't need thousands like a human army. But no human army could stand against them. Now, the two most important things to remember are, first, never let them get their arms around you or they'll crush you instantly. And second, never go for the obvious kill, they'll be expecting that and you will lose. Emmett." Jasper and Emmett both got into position for their fight, "don't hold back."

"Not in my nature." Emmett smirked cocking. I sighed as I watched them take swings at each other, throwing them around like rag dolls. I hated seeing this, and what if this happens? We're not ready for a fight against newborns. They'll destroy us.

Don't think like that, the voice of Edward told me. I turned to him with a 'really?' Look, he frowned back at me with a slight glare.

Stop reading my mind, I say and turn back to Jasper and Emmett who were still in battle mode.

I can't help it when your thoughts are so loud, I didn't answer him and instead chose to ignore him, maybe he'll go away, nope. I huffed quietly to myself and walked over to Rose and Alice. He'll definitely know how much he's annoying me now.

I smirked as it was Edward and Carlisle's fight and I'm happy to see it. Edward was winning as he pinned Carlisle to the ground in one swift motion.

"Never turn your back on your enemy." I heard Jasper say as Carlisle took Edward to the ground when he wasn't looking.

As time went on I lost count on the amount of fights there was but it was a good show. At least I enjoyed it but I can't say the same about the others as they looked at each other with glares.

The next day Bella, Edward and I met Jake at the field where the fight would take place, I looked around as Jake arrived.

"Your not fighting? What, did you pull a muscle or something?" Jake asked making me chuckle.

"He's doing it for me, ok?" Bella said, whatever that means.

"Whatever. Just tell me the plan." Jake told Edward, now annoyed with the current situation.

"This field will give us an advantage in battle. We need to lure the newborns with Bella's scent. It needs to end here." He explained clearly

"Edward, Violet and I are going to a camp site. Even if they carry me, they'll still pick up on my scent." Bella informed him.

"Your stench, however, is revolting." I told Jake with a grin, it was a joke but I knew he wouldn't take it as one. It was also true, so . .

"You really don't want to start comparing stinks." He said, Turing his eyes to Edward.

"What she means is that your scent will mask mine if you carry me." Bella tries to calm him down not wanting an argument to break out even though everyone loves me and that wouldn't happen. Edward gives me a weird look before shaking his head and turning back.

"Done." Jake nods. I know he's just doing this for Bella and it's so sweet, either that or he just wants to carry her all the way up a mountain.

"This is not a good idea." Edward tells me unsurely, with his arms crossed like he was trying to protect his manly demeanor.

"Edward, they won't want to get anywhere near his . . . Odor, it's fine." I assure with amusement to my voice.

"Ok let's try it." Jake picks up my sister in his arms, "Run." Edward demands and Jake does without question. I look at him with mild surprise as we walk back, I hope this works out.
