"Mira, before you decide anything, I have to tell you something" Karthik said. His gaze was fixed on me, and he looked indifferent to all that was happening.

We're sitting in a cafe. When I asked aunty in the morning about the reason of me being here, she said that we'd talk about it in the evening. So here we are, discussing about my life! And well, Karthik's too.

Karthik was sitting in front of me. Kajal aunty on my right, and Pramod uncle on Karthik's left.

"Say" I said. It was hard to contain his gaze but I didn't give up. I've grown up to be very competitive! Exactly opposite of what I was few years back.

"Umm. You two can talk in private, if you want" Kajal Aunty interrupted from beside me.

"Yeah. We'll sit there for sometime" Uncle said, referring to the table next to ours.

"No Dad, it's alright. There's nothing to talk in private between us. Right, Mira?" Karthik said.

Um well, I don't know, Mr Karthik Ahuja!

"Yes. Course" I said.

This man is so weird. Here we are talking about something so big and so important and so unexpected, and he's behaving like we're talking about something as normal as.. food!!

Weirdo!

"Okay, but there's something more I have to tell you" aunty started slowly. "Sneha has left these letters for you both"

I quickly moved my head to Aunty's direction. She was holding two envelopes in her hand.

Mumma's letter?!

"Mom's letter?" I asked her, just to be sure.

She nodded before saying a 'yes'.

Suddenly my heart started to get heavy. Mom's left me a diary, and I've read it over a hundred times! But seeing this little piece of paper, I felt no less emotional. Every word written by her works as a cure for all my sufferings.

Aunty placed one envelope in front of me and the other in front of Karthik.

"Go through them, before you think anything" uncle said.

I nodded and quickly opened the envelope which had 'Mira' written on top of it.

My hands were shaking a little when I unfolded the paper.

I started reading.

Dear Mira,

How are you my princess? How's life? I hope you've come over all your fears and turned into this beautiful, confident woman I've always wanted to see you as!

Sweetie, you've found this letter, that means Kajal has probably told you about my wish. Yes, I want you to marry Karthik. He is a very good boy! So intelligent and handsome and kind hearted. He'll take care of you. You'd be happy with him!

I know all this might seem a little weird to you. But like always, in the end the decision is yours to make! I am your mother, I have to look out for you! But if you don't want this marriage, just say no. I've written the same to Karthik.

I wish you a very bright future, my child! I hope you always stay happy. Wherever you live and with whoever you live.

I love you, Princess. And I am always with you.

Yours,
Mumma.

Have you ever wanted to reverse the time and go to a particular moment? I did. I wanted to go to that moment where my mother was smiling, and hug her so tight that she could never go and leave me alone again!
