"Cats or dogs? Cake or icing? Books or movies? Chocolate or vanilla? Winter or summer? Ketchup or mustard? Pancakes or waffles?" Savannah asked, the questions coming out lightning quick as she turned to Nick once Mr. Romero had given them their instructions for the lesson. Clearly, neither of them were about to do the work.

Nick's gaze landed on the girl next to him, his lip twitching up slightly, "Slow down there, Van. How about one at a time?"

She nodded, smiling sheepishly up at him, "Okay, are you a cat or a dog person, Nicky?"

"I'm a dog person. I have a dog," Nick replied.

Savannah gasped, "Really? What's your dog's name? I'm a dog person too!"

"Her name's Molly. You wanna see a picture?" He gazed down at the girl who seemed to be about to burst with excitement.

She immediately nodded, "Yes! Molly is such a cute name. How old is she?"

"She's three. Here," Nick handed Savannah his phone which now displayed a picture of a tan-colored cavoodle.

Savannah squealed in excitement, "Oh my goodness! She is literally the cutest thing I have ever seen!"

Savannah squealed in excitement, "Oh my goodness! She is literally the cutest thing I have ever seen!"

Nick cleared his throat, looking away in an attempt to hide the chuckle that almost left his lips. Savannah looked up at him out of the corner of her eye and observed the way his cheeks were tensed as though he were trying not to smile.

"That was her about a month ago," Nick murmured, taking his phone back for a moment and scrolling through his photos before he stopped on one and let Savannah hold his phone again, "That was when I first got her,"

"Oh my gosh, she was so small! Her little feet are so adorable and her face-" Savannah cut herself off with a squeal, covering her face with her hand. She looked up at Nick from beneath her lashes, "You literally have the cutest dog in the entire world. I'm going to steal her from you,"

Nick looked down at his shoes as he once again tried to hold back his smile. Savannah frowned slightly to herself. She wished he wouldn't hide it from her. She knew he would have a beautiful smile.

"Okay, I have spent way too much time gushing over your dog. We need to get to the rest of the questions," Savannah turned to face Nick fully, placing his phone back on his desk. Nick gave her his full, undivided attention as she continued, "Chocolate or vanilla?"

"Vanilla," Nick replied immediately.

Savannah grinned, "Me too! Books or movies?"

"Movies," Nick replied, looking a little sheepish as Savannah glared at him.

"I'll change your mind on that, don't worry. Cake or icing?"

"Cake,"

Savannah smiled, "That means we balance each other out, Nicky! I like icing. Okay, winter or summer?"

"Uh, winter," He leaned in a little closer to her.

"Same," She grinned, "I love the snow. Um... Ketchup or mustard?"

"Mustard is disgusting. Definitely ketchup,"

Savannah grinned even wider if that were even possible. "I agree. Pancakes or waffles,"

Nick shrugged, "Depends. I don't have a favourite,"

"Fair enough. My favourite is pancakes, but of course I like waffles as well," She paused, staring up at him, "Now, final question, Nicky," He nodded, urging her to continue, "Do you use a 3 in 1 shampoo, conditioner and body wash?"

Nick's eyebrows furrowed at the weird question, "Um, yes?"

Savannah sighed, shaking her head, "That'll have to change too,"

Savannah sighed, shaking her head, "That'll have to change too,"
