She sat there and watched the sun rise, all the beautiful colors, clouds telling a story only they know. The cool breeze gently blowing her hair while she soaked in the morning magic.

The others would be up any time now so she climbed down the tree and back into her room

Her feet touched the floor right as her sister came through her door

"Terrance! It's today!" Her sister gushed running over to her, grabbing her hands, "today is the ball!"

"It's just like any other ball" Terrance said flatly

"No it's not! This could be the ball we both find true love!.." She hesitated, "we both know father will be impatient soon and make arranged marriages if we don't find love this year.."

She was right, about her anyways, her brother was the oldest, 20, her older sister was 18, and Terrance was 17. Her sister didn't want to miss her chance at love

"Maggie I'm sure you'll find the right guy in time." She said genuinely. She didn't mention herself though, she didn't think anyone wanted to marry an improper, tree climbing, future forbidden land adventuring girl.

"So will you.. Now.. Let's begin our day of getting ready!" Maggie insisted

They brushed their hair, took baths, put on their fancier under garments. She watched as her sister did her own hair and makeup, she had a gift for beauty, always looked stunning. Terrance had no clue how she hadn't been begged to marry by someone.

She waited, it's not like she knew how to do that to herself

Maggie paused and looked at Terrance.

"Well you can't go like that. Want me to do you up?" Maggie asked

"No, they might as well see me in my true banshee form." Terrance said with a straight face.

"None sense!" Maggie finished applying lip color and moved to her sister's hair

She curled her long think midnight hair, braided the top half and pinned it back, but pulled out a few pieces to frame her face

"Perfect." Maggie said to herself before moving on, she applied makeup to terrance's face, refusing to let Terrance see until it was finished

"Dark, red, or light lip color?" Maggie asked

"As dark as you can get them. I want my lips to be a reflection of my soul"

Maggie hesitated, looked at her sister, holding back a chuckle

"How about a deep red, to dark to be tradition, but still classy" Maggie suggested

"Ok fine." She agreed

"Now just a touch of contour and blush.. Sculpt your bone structure.." She narrated to herself will applying powders, "and done!" Maggie said, back up excitedly

Terrance looked in the mirror, for once she didn't see the hollowness she felt, the makeup was a mask but for once she actually felt like someone might find her beautiful

"Absolutely stunning, both of you" her mom complimented while walking in, "now put your dresses on loves."

They each slipped into a dress that was bigger than nessisary

"Terrance, the corset, you're going to wear it. You can't slip that past me."
Her mom said getting on to her

"But mom. Why"

"Now."

Terrance sighed before pushing her dress down to her hips while she slipped the corset over her head

Maggie walked over in her completed out for and started sinching it closed. Maggie placed her knee against her sister's bottom and pulled while pushing with her leg.

Terrance instantly stood straighter but gasped as she felt her lungs being constricted, while being forced to take shallower breaths she voiced her complaint

"Ok, does it have to be that tight though? How am I supposed to dance when I can't even take a deep breath."

Her mother just dismissed her comments with the wave of her hand,

Terrance pulled up her dress again so her sister could finish her out fit
