"There should only be about a mile left until we'll be under their village" Ava said. Terrance swore she could see at least a touch of relief in Ava's expression, even though the elf would never admit it.

"This is totally personal but.. Do you like anyone?" Terrance asked, trying not to be jealous but she secretly wished Avani wouldn't know Ava. She was so pretty and graceful, Terrance couldn't help but feel inferior as far as the prince went.

"How do you mean?" Ava asked with just a touch of interest, otherwise her features stayed solemn

"I mean.. Do you have feelings for any elves"

Ava turned her head in terrances direction but her eyes didn't look at Terrance, instead they looked up into sky while her brow twisted slightly with thought

"I do but I wouldn't think about them. Nothing could come of them." Ava said looking towards the ground

Terrance knew exactly how Ava felt but a wave of despair washed over her heart at her thoughts. She assumed Ava was talking about the prince and how they couldn't be together because of social ties

"How do?" Terrance asked digging deeper

Ava stopped walking and glared at Terrance, "if I tell you, you mustn't share it with a soul"

Terrance put her hands in the air to show defeat from Ava's scowl, "yes of course, I promise"

Ava looked away and started walking again

"Because he's not an elf" Ava stated

"WHAT!?" Terrance said shocked, she tried to hide her genuine excitement about less competition

"He.. Is a human.."

"How is that even possible? You can't visit human lands

"Well, his father is a fisherman and he saw me on the shoreline one day, he was so curious.. So he wrote a note, put it in an empty wine bottle and tossed it over the boat in the direction of the shore.." Ava started

"Awwwww"

"I read his not and the next day I attached a note to an arrow and shot it into the railing of his boat.. We've continues this for 3 years, every few days we exchange a note"

All the warmth that had filled Terrance slowly became replaced with a sinking feeling.

"But.. Why are you here with me then..?" Terrance asked, "you're missing notes"

"For the hope of being with him" she stated

They walked over onto a path and began following. It curved around the trees, it was extremely grown over

"Marrows don't need paths" Ava said with a soft smile

After a few moments they steeped into a slight clearing but there was no village in sight

"Where's the village?" Terrance asked

Ava smiled broadly and pointed up

Terrance's eyes followed the direction of Ava's finger, her eyes found beautiful mansion-like tree houses, lining thousands of trees. There was an entire system. Everything detailed and infra are. It was as phenomenal as the elves's land but in trees

"It's stunning!" Terrance exclaimed in awe

"Close your mouth so you don't drunk." Ava teased while chuckling a bit

Without any warning Terrance was wished off her feet as if she was blown by the wind

She looked up, the tree houses getting closer, the wind gusting in her face, something wrapped under her armpits, hauling her upward

Just as suddenly as she began climbing in altitude she stopped, her stomach gaining a knot. She tried to push the nausea down

"Welcome. What an interesting sight. I haven't seen a human in nearly 400 years." A soothing woman's voice said

Terrance's stomach had finally calmed enough for her to take in and notice her surroundings

There were 5 marrows in front of her and Ava by her side in a tree house.
