Hey, I'm iEmilyArps, author of this book. So Chapter 8 was end of part 1. The idea of the entire book was split into 4 part, year of each year of their life in Collage. The layout go something like this
Part 1: Introducing Characters, conflict, and setting and all that jazz and the girls 1st year
Part 2: Mercury's rise in strength and the girls 2nd year
Part 3: The Girls defeat Mercury and their 3rd year
Part 4: Figuring out what Headmaster Zinc meant by that line he said in character 3 and The girls final year

Q: Why did Mercury's eye turn a darker shade of red when he killed his two henchmen ?
A: Well my first idea was every time that he kill one of his henchmen but I quickly changed to every time he killed a person. HIs eye are red and the darker the shade is the more powerful he is
Q: Why did Mercury come to the party?
A: My original idea was he just learned a new type of magic, toxic magic, because he already knew about his ability a mention above, but when I writing that dating story of Ruby's I changed my mind and decide the reason was to make Ruby jealous at the party for he knew she went to that college.
Q: Does Team Star play a bigger part than the guys whom threw the party?
A: Yes, they do end up helping Team Gems in Part 3
