Chapter 10:

People stirred.

Alerted by the girl's death, they took action.
But it was a little bit too late.

"SOMEONE, CALL THE POLICE!"

"Ambulance! Ambulance!"

"HURRY, HURRY!"

A myriad of voices filled the platform—
overlapping.

Children cried,
women screamed,
and men whispered.

Bits and pieces of their conversations
reached my ears, digging deep into my mind—

"How could he do such a thing?! People today have no morality."

"Shh~ What if he hears you?"

"So what? Let him hear! He's a criminal and he deserves to die!"

"Dude, be quiet! Do you wanna die too?"

"Shut up, you idiots!"

"What if he's innocent?"

"Innocent, my ass! He's got blood on his hands!"

"Mommy... the bad man's watching me..."

"Shush, darling, shush. He's not gonna harm you..."

"Someone should keep an eye on him though. What if he runs away?"

"He won't. Can't you see he's petrified?"

"But still; what if he really does something?"

"I took his picture, don't you worry."

Chapter 11:

It didn't take long
for reporters to find out.

They all came buzzing,
cameras rolling,
desperate for a cover page article.

"MURDER AT THE SUBWAY"
seemed like an adequate title.

Interviews were taken rabidly,
and eye-witnesses were still on-air,
relating their gruesome experience
as the reporters commented,

"Surprisingly, the culprit is still at the crime scene."

Chapter 12:

The police came in late.

By the time they arrived, the reporters had their articles out
into the public's eye.

My face was known.

"Get outoutout"
"You're not allowed on the scene!"
"What are you doing?! You're contaminating the evidence!"

It was no longer possible for me to escape.

"Make way."

A flock of uniforms gathered round and
yellow tape quickly sealed all exits.

"Hey, you!
What's your name?"

Incomprehensible words floated from a man's mouth.

"Hey!!"
No response.

"Man~ what's with this guy?!"

"Man~ what's with this guy?!"
