Chapter 51:

"Come on in." A new face motioned. "Have a seat."

I sat down as instructed and looked around,
surprise written all over my face.

Why was I even there?
'To pay for your sins,'
the mystery voice inside my head replied.

"This is only going to be a formal interrogation." The bulky man in front of me continued.

I naturally focused my attention on him,
entirely forgetting, for a second, about the other officer who stood behind me,

by the door.

"I'm sorry but—"
I tried to protest but I was soon cut off.

"ID."

The interrogation was soon to start.

Chapter 52:

There were only small remarks flowing in and out around the room, as the man in front of me made most demands.

"Hurry up. We don't have all day."

I reached out for the ID resting inside my pocket,
without complaining.

No words were uttered.
Only actions.

"Why did you break the glass?"

The question was sudden. My eyes, wide open, stared ahead,
in surprise.

The man repeated as he continued to scribble.

"Huh?"

Chapter 53:

I wasn't a big fan of thriller movies.

I found them too unrealistic.

And that day,
that day, I was proven right,

once again.

Reality is so much different from fiction.

I was caught up in a room with too much noise
and static thoughts.

"I asked you a question. Why?"

The same monotonous voice demanded.

I didn't answer.
I stayed silent like a rock and traced my memories back to the girl.

Because of her.

Because of her
