Annabeths POV

Thank God it was Saturday.
But I only had one thing on my mind; Gabe.
As simple as that.
I didn't like him. At all.
Neither did Percy, but because he was such a goofball, or Seaweed Brain- whichever works better- he didn't say anything.
He wanted his mother to be happy.

It's not that I didn't respect that or anything, it's just that I happen to be just as protective of my Percy as he is of me.
I just don't think I could bear it if something happened to him...
"Uh... what was the idea again?"
Percy asked, an eyebrow raised as he gazed intently at me.
I sighed inwardly.

Percy was a smart guy, not that I'd ever tell him that, but he had initiative.
He just didn't show it much.
He was the exact opposite of me.

When I got the chance to show the world who I was, I took it, unlike Percy, who hid his brain behind all his goof.
Not that I'm complaining, though.

"The idea... let's see. Okay. So, today we were either going to go outside-"
"No..."
Percy groaned, falling back on his bed.
"Okay... cross that then. Umm... homework?"
I asked cautiously.
"NO! Annabeth, have I taught you nothing?"
I shook my head, face-palming.
"Fine. Err... write a short story?"
He sat up, narrowing his eyes.
"Okay... about what?"

My eyes lit up.
I'd had this idea...

"You know the Greek gods, right?"
He frowned, contemplating very slowly.
"Like Poseidon? And Zeus?"
I nodded eagerly.
"And Athena, Ares, Aphrodite, Hephaestus, Demeter, Apollo, Artemis, Hades-"
"Wow there Annie. Breathe, or you might just die."
I paused and glared at him before saying,
"You know demigods right? The gods used to have affairs with mortals and have offspring, etcetera. What if the gods still existed? And demigods went to this camp on Long Island? What if-"
"Only if there's an unlimited supply of blue food!"
He shouted loud enough to startle me.

I smiled as he looked at me with a ridiculous grin, as if we were actually going to go to this camp.

"Whatever you say, Seaweed Brain."

Sally's POV

The day slipped away a lot faster than I'd thought it would.
The sun lay as a semicircle on the colourful skyline, playfully sending rays of light into the living room.

Gabe wanted to move in early, and since Percy didn't exactly complain, I said it was fine.
So Gabe was now coming tomorrow.
On a Sunday morning.

Just like the day Percy's father walked out...

"Mom!"
I stood hastily, stretching my back lightly.
"Yes honey?"
It took a couple seconds for Percy to reply.
"I'm hungry! Can we have pancakes?"
I sighed happily.
I'd raised him well, hadn't I?
"For dinner?"
"Yes!"
I heard both Percy and Annabeth shout in unison.

I walked into the kitchen with a smile spread wide on my lips.

Life was good, wasn't it?

Just as promised, we ate our blue pancakes for dinner.
Annabeth barely ate one, so I loaded her plate full with three more and practically force fed her.
I think the exact thing I'd told her was "if you want to grow big and strong, you've got to eat all your food."
All this brought was Percy mumbling,
"You don't have to tell me twice."

I put the dishes on the kitchen counter, mentally swearing that I'd do them later.

"So who wants to-"
Ding dong.
"Umm... I'll see who it is."
I ran to the door and opened the door to the familiar, unattractive face of Gabe Ugliano.
"Oh hi sweetie-"
I cringed calling him 'sweetie'.
"-what are you doing here?"
He grunted and let himself in.
"I don't know, guess I just felt like hanging out here. You know were that punk is?"
I raised an eyebrow, growing concerned as I closed the door.

"Percy?"
"Yeah, him."
Gabe's raspy voice sounded like he'd smoked ten packs of cigarettes a day, which, to be fair, he might have.

But I had to be with him for Percy.
Gabe was the only one willing to move so quickly...

I sighed as I propped myself down on the old leather couch, glancing at Gabe as he phoned a couple of his poker friends.
I stood to tell Percy to stay in his room tonight.

Gabe was having guests over.

Percy's POV

Thankfully, Annabeth seemed to be healing.
Or she was getting better at fighting her own battles alone, out of sight.
In her head.

Either way, I would never stop protecting her, and right now, it was time for school.

We'd ditched Monday, because why not?

Annabeths grip of steal turned her knuckles white, but she wouldn't let go of my hand, which of course I was relieved from.
She needed comfort, especially now.

We stepped into the hallway and she quickly released my hand.

"Annie, its fine now. Remember what we talked about?"
She nodded meekly, and seemingly unwillingly took my hand again.

I thought I could beat any bully at the same time as protecting Annabeth.
That was, until I stumbled upon Clarisse.

Uh oh.

This is so short!!!
I'm so sorry!
Writers block is restraining my abilities to write long apparently...
Anyway, I've got a good storyline, and the main event is coming, don't worry!
Merci! Tack! Thanks!
