"Tell me you didn't steal the necklace and you will know why Akanimoh's second name is thunder and her third name is earthquake!" The rude girl, Akanimoh struck Aret with a devastating kick.

Abdullah couldn't take it anymore as he quickly stood between the two ladies. "Leave this girl, she said she isn't a thief. Let her be please."

"No way....this girl didn't even spend a week here and she is already taking what doesn't belong to her." Akanimoh said pointing to Aret, fire sparked in her eyes.

Abdullah exhaled sharply and let out an exasperated sigh. "How much is the necklace, i will pay."

She chuckled, "you will pay? Please you don't have that money."

"Will you just name the amount and let's get over with this." He said dangerously. "Btw, photography is a hobby." He brought out his phone. "Type in your account number. Don't waste my time."

"Even if you send the money, this girl wouldn't stay here again. Handsome photographer."

He just glared at her and sent the money, successfully. Turning to face Aret, he picked up his backpack and dragged her with him.

He was so tired, the last event just ended and that Akanimoh girl had to pull up a drama saying Aret stole her necklace.

The sound of Aret crying again brought him out of his trance and he shifted his gaze to her.

Her hair was still divided into three parts but she was wearing a sky blue gown that stopped below her knees unlike yesterday's gown that was black and shorter.

"I'm not a thief, I didn't take the necklace." She cried.

"Yeah i know." He replied, simply.

"So I should take you home?" He asked unsure.

She faced him, abruptly. "No please don't, i beg you. It isn't a home, it is a hell." She whispered the last part.

"Why?" He asked perplexed.

"I use to live with my maternal grandmother, she died a year ago and since then i have been living with one of our neighbors." She exhaled and continued.

"Two weeks ago, A woman visited our village saying a lady is getting married the following week and that our neighbor sent me here to work for Adaku, the bride after her wedding." She narrated and he listened attentively.

"What about your parents?" He asked cautiously.

"My Mom and her parents migrated from a country, to a state here in Nigeria. My Dad saw my mom and I don't know how they did it but they tied the knot."

"Few years later, i was seven then. Things happened and i lost my parents and a lot of other relatives. So we moved together with my maternal grandmother only to another local government here in cross-river. Yali local government."

"Sorry about that." He muttered and she nodded.

Without thinking twice he blurted out. "Would you mind if i take you with me....to live with my mom."

She kept mute for a minute and muttered a thank you. Abdullah smiled, "Get up let's go."

She stood up first and he gently backed his backpack again.

"Oh no! Wait! Sit down." He shouted and she turned abruptly. "I mean don't sit, stand still. Don't move."

Could this day get any better.

Sighing, he removed his backpack and took off his navy blue long sleeve shirt, leaving a singlet only on his body.

"Wear this." He handed her the shirt.

"I'm not cold."

"Yeah i know." He scratched his head. "You've got some red stain down there."

She understood and kept quiet. They took a taxi, stopped by a supermarket and he got sanitary pads and they left to his hotel room.

He ushered her in and she stood contemplating whether to go in or not.

"Trust me, I won't do anything bad." He paused and kept his backpack. "I will get food before you finish." She nodded and he moved out.

He sat down outside trying to refresh his brain. He just can't go home with a teenage girl and expect Ummi or Baba not to ask questions. "I will give Ummi a call." He thought.

"Ummi." He called out, immediately when she picked up.

"My baby A, How have you been?"

"I'm fine Alhamdulillah. Just stressed out." He sighed.

"So, when are you coming back? I missed you. Tomorrow right?" She asked.

"Not tomorrow, next two days in shaa Allah." He said calmly. He needs to clear off his head.

"Allah ya kaimu. See you then." Ummi said ready to cut off the call.

"Ummi wait, don't disconnect the call please. I want to talk."

"Okay, okay, talk. I'm all ears."

He kept quiet, not knowing where to start from.

"You got a wife?" She asked jokingly. "And afraid to tell me? C'mon talk, it's your Ummi."

He laughed. "Ummi, I didn't get a wife rather i got a cute innocent girl to help you at home."

He heaved a sigh before narrating everything carefully.

"Such a pity, some people are just so heartless." Ummi said pitifully. "So the girl is with you right now, is she sleeping with you?"

"Yes, i mean no. It's not like we're sleeping together. I'm so confused, I don't know what to do."

"Calm down Abdullah, i get what you're saying. I will tell your Dad about her and let's hear what he says. Okay?"

"Alright. Thank you Ummi." He smiled. He is happy.

"Call your brother and inform him about her. She should stay with them. It's safer." Ummi suggested.

"I will give you a call tomorrow. Take care." And she disconnected the call. He felt satisfied before shoving his phone back into his jeans pocket.

He bought the food and made his way back into the hotel, putting it at the back of his head to call Yahaya immediately after eating.
