I Don't Know How

I don't know how to see
The beauty within the beast,
Past the cellulite and fat above my knees,
One gorgeous feature at the very least.

I don't know how to find independence in a crowd,
Noticed but not too noticeable,
Be more than a number but not scream out loud;
No need to fear becoming invisible.

I don't know how to love correctly,
Love deeply and swiftly as Romeo and Juliet;
How to be powerful and vulnerable simultaneously;
How to accept myself--feels good, I bet.

I know how to see these faults and frown.
I don't love myself; instead, I drown.
