"THIS WON'T BE THE LAST TIME WE SEE EACH OTHER. I PROMISE."

RESISTANCE BASE, ILLENIUM SYSTEM-

The Resistance base was filled with hurried and chaotic movement as Kyra stepped out into the bright daylight of the base again. The Resistance fleet was preparing for its mission, pilots running in their jumpsuits to their ships as mechanics made adjustments to the jets. Crews seemed to be running to and fro, filling up every available X-Wings that they could with fuel and resources necessary to the battle. It was something that Kyra had never experienced before, the rush to save others rather than destroy them.

Walking down through the concrete runway of the Resistance base, Kyra's feet seemed to be leading her away from where the Millenium Falcon was landed and towards all of the X-Wings. She stared at the commotion around her, unsure of her place in it all.

As she neared a black X-Wing, Poe appeared in front of her, ducking down across the nose at the ship to flash a smile at her. "Shouldn't you be on the Falcon?" He questioned, her eyes falling straight on him. "BB-8 said that you're really the one that knows how to get onto that base, and you're what we're relying on to get the shield down."

"I decided it was worth a visit to come and say goodbye to BB-8 before I left." Kyra grinned, looking down at the small BB unit who had lowered himself down from his position in the X-Wing to come and watch the interaction between Poe and Kyra.

"Oh, just BB-8, huh?" Poe chuckled, seeing his droid beep something out too rapidly for him to comprehend at Kyra. The young woman let out a chuckle at whatever BB-8 said before turning back to him with a wider smile. "That's it?"

"Okay, so maybe I also wanted to see you before we all left. Sue me." Kyra threw her hands up in fake exasperation, earning a loud laugh from Poe. The genuine smile that lit up her face was something that made her happy, and she was pretty sure that it made Poe as well.

"You're going to miss this stupid mug that much, Space Girl?" Poe fired back, recalling their earlier conversation on the same landing field. "Because, I gotta say, if that's the case, I'm honored to be thought about in the lovely Princess Kyra Ceydea's head." He teased, giving a mock bow before her.

"Shut it." Kyra hit him lightly, the banter between the two coming easily to her. There was something about having Poe around her that just made her feel happy, like she was back home on Sorgan when she was a child. It was a feeling of home. "I'm not a princess."

"Mm-" Poe cocked his head to the side, squinting his eyes at her as he pretended to assess her, trying to see if she was a princess. "Hate to break it to you, Kyra, but you definitely look like one. From the stories my mother told me, princesses of the galaxy were stubborn, stunning, and sassy. And unfortunately for you, you fit all of those three categories to a t."
