For as long as you can remember, you've been told that Jedi are forbidden to form attachments. Of course, there comes a time in each Jedi's life where they are tested. For you, that test came in the form of a padawan learner no older than yourself, Qui-Gon Jin.
You two were brought to the temple around the same time and become very close. You were proud to call him your best friend, but to him, you were something more.
One day, after training one morning, you noticed your best friend acting weird towards you. Where he would once let doors close on you for laughs, he started holding them open for you. Where he would goof around with the other padawans and you, he would very maturely dismiss their fun. However, what changed the most was the conversations between you two. You could always talk to Qui-Gon, and he could always talk to you, anytime and about anything, but he became distant when you spoke, as if he were in a trance of some what. To be honest, you were sick of it.
This morning, you tried to talk with him about how excited you were to be starting Jedi Trials soon, but you looked over at one point and noticed his glossed over look again. Instead of hoping he would eventually start listening, like you always would, you stopped in the middle of the hallway and said somewhat loudly, "Is there something on my face, or are you bored? Honestly, Qui-Gon, you've been staring at me without say a word for weeks now, and I won't put up with it anymore. Go find yourself a new best friend who enjoys being ignored." You stomp off back to the training area you just came from.
You grab your lightsaber and begin working on some techniques. You've struggled with combat as a padawan, you always have, but your mind and connection with the force made you special among your age group. As you swing at reprogrammed battle droids, you don't notice Qui-Gon walk into the large room.
He watches you from the back of the room as you take down droid after droid, until one blast catches your arm. It isn't a real blaster; it's just a training blaster with stun settings, but it simulates the pain of a real blast. You groan and fall to your knees as you become unfocused, having your knee shot as well. Suddenly, the battle droids are all knocked back and you hear footsteps running towards you.
"____? ____, are you okay?" You recognize Qui-Gon's voice. You choose to ignore him and rise to your feet before walking off. "____, wait. Please. I can explain."
You let out a sarcastic laugh, "Really?"
"Look, I-uh-I have wanted to um, say, no, tell you that I kinda-sorta, you know?" He stammers heavily.
"No, Q. I don't." You use the nickname you gave him.
He takes a deep breath, "I know Jedi aren't allowed to form attachments, but I really like you, ____, and I hope you feel the same way, but I have a sense that you don't because I know how much the Order means to you. Trust me, I was listening. Instead of responding, I tried to keep my mouth shut, so I couldn't mess up your dream, but here I am, a rambling mess, because I've never had the courage to say this before." He pauses and asks, "So what do you say?"
Immediately you respond, "No. Look Q, I don't want to hurt you, but I know my place here, and allowing myself to form that kind of attachment to you could be detrimental in my training as well as yours, and don't tell me you don't want this any less than I do. What I'm saying is that these feelings aren't emotions that I allow myself to feel, and so far, it's worked."
Qui-Gon raises an eyebrow, "Is that so? Well, let's make a wager. If you beat me in a lightsaber duel, without tapping into your emotions, then I will go back to your best friend and we can forget this whole issue. But if I win, you have to give me a chance."
     "I don't know, Qui-Gon." You start.
"Please, ____, just give me a chance. That's all I ask," he pleads.
"Fine, but watch out. No mercy. First one to score a hit wins." You smirk, coming up with a plan.
Immediately, you both draw your sabers. It starts out by you two pacing in a circle, both wanting to stay on the defensive. Suddenly, you strike, but Qui-Gon blocks it perfectly. You both lock in a fierce duel. For a moment, he parries each of your strikes, leaving you defenseless. Knowing his next swing be to your vulnerable left arm, you duck, but pop up in the small space between his arms and his saber. He drops his lightsaber out of shock and you snicker, "Guess I win."
He lets go of you, not fully realizing that he had been holding you and says, "Alright, this never happened. Now what?"
You shake your head and reply, "I'm gonna take a chance." You lean in and place your lips to his. He kisses back. You pull back and smirk, "I still beat you though." With that, you sprint off with Qui-Gon chasing after you.

A/N Okay, I've discovered that it's kind of hard to write about characters that don't have much background, but I like a challenge. This one isn't my favorite that I've done, but shoutout to @Multi-Fandom
