"Stop mocking me! I can't do anything about my height.."

I said a bit annoyed, as Nekomaru was making fun of me again.

He laughed, and petted me.

"Come on, don't take it so seriously, you're adorable!"

"I-I'm- uh.. Thanks?"

Oh man, I'm awkward sometimes.

And not used to compliments...

I snapped out of my thoughts, as he began to speak again.

"You should come train with me and Akane later."

"A-Are you sure? I'm not v-very sporty.."

"Another reason you should come! So, what do you say!?"

"I..Sure..w-why not-.."

"That's the spirit! See you later! And don't be late!"

I nodded.

Oh god, why did I say yes..this is gonna be super embarrassing!

I let out a deep breath and went to my cottage.

"Do I even have clothes for training?"

I looked through my clothes, I picked out a shirt and a shorts.

Eh, this will do.

I looked in the mirror.

I look stupid.

He will make fun of me even more..

I wish I were more like Akane. Strong, sporty and sexy.

The two of them would be a great team.

A great couple too, I guess..

I looked at my hand.

It will be alright..

*knock, knock*

"Ah!"

I jumped a little, the noise surprised me a little.

"Y-Yes!"

I went to the door.

"Are you ready? Nekomaru is waiting already."

"I- y-yeah..sure!"

"Are you okay?"

Akane asked me, as we began walking.

"I uh..sure am."

I gave her a soft smile.

"You're a bit shy, aren't you?"

I nodded, looking at the ground.

She gave me a pet on the back.

"It's alright! We're gonna give you some confidence!"

She said louder.

"Ah, finally you two are here!"

"Yeah, let's get this started already!"

I could feel my face getting hotter with every step I took.

"ARE YOU MOTIVATED!!??"

"I-I y-yeah.."

"Louder! Your voice is too weak!"

"Y-Yeah!"

"Better, but still not it. We are gonna work on that. But now, let's start with running around the beach!"

Great..

Well.. I gotta try I guess.

After around 15 minutes or so, I couldn't anymore.

"You're stopping already??"

I was trying to catch my breath.

"Y-Yeah, sorry.. ... I.. Told... You"

"Okay, let's take a break."

I sat in the sand as I was watching the both of them fighting for a bit.

They're cute..

I will never be like them..

But..that's alright, right?

Could I still have a chance with..?

Nah, I shouldn't think of that.

I know I don't.

He loves to train and stuff like that, what would he do with a couch potato like me?

I will just listen to some cavetown later, it should be okay.

"Hey, (Y/N)! Break is over!"

"Coming!"

After two hours, my whole body was just hurting.

It was already dark, and I fell into the sand.

I was just enjoying the waves at my feet.

"And, how was it? Feeling stronger already?"

"Yeah sure I do."

I said sarcastically.

"You should go take a shower, tomorrow is gonna be way harder!"

"Oh yeah I can't wait.."

He ruin his fingers through my hair, which was making me crazy.

"Y-Yeah, s-see you tomorrow.."

I'm so exhausted..

After a week of pure pain- I mean training, I really felt a bit of confidence.

But I guess that changed when a body was found.

I thought everything was going in the right direction..

Once again, I found myself on the beach.

I cried a bit, had to collect my thoughts and all that stuff.

And then I heard someone walking behind me.

"Are.. you alright?"

"Hm?"

I looked up to the person with the familiar voice and wiped away my tears.

"Y-Yeah don't worry, Nekomaru"

There was a bit of silence when I broke down.

"Actually, I'm not okay. I..I'm not as strong as you or Akane. And I probably never be..I'm sorry..I'm too weak.."

I felt his arms around me, even though it was really tight, I liked it and I was feeling better already.

"I.. didn't know you felt like this. That we made you feel like this. I'm sorry."

"S-So..you're not disappointed?"

"Hahaha, of course not! I'm even impressed you did the training all weak with us! I could tell it was hard for you."

"Y-Yeah it really was.."

We sat at the beach for a little while longer, as I slowly took his hand. He squeezed it a bit, and I thought to myself:

Maybe I do have a chance.

As I laid my head on his shoulder.
