My steps are light as I move down the stairs.

The time is one that I'm usually always awake at, but this time I'm trying not to wake Bethany. She is not a morning person and most times I fuck her gently back to sleep and then spend the time going over what happened all those years ago.

It was like a personal alarm reminding me that I'm alive, yet it's not the reason for me waking this morning. Sure my body is automatically up but my mind is focused on one thing, Bethany.

I breathe in the fresh air when I quietly pull the front door open, the sky still a deep azure as the rest of the world sleeps on. The chair rocks as I take a seat and I smile as I get the scent of her perfume mixed with the breeze.

Our time here is coming to an end, but it seems as if the rest of our lives are just starting.

I get lost within the plans inside my head knowing how important these next steps we go to take are. I can't wait to take her home with me, the thought of having her in my normal life warms me from the inside. My vision fills with her cleaning up mucky faces, laughter surrounding her and... maybe two kids?

I would be blessed if we had one, especially since I never even thought I would get that.

"Quinn?"

I jump upon feeling her hands on my shoulders and my gaze meets her worried one as I tip my head back.

"You okay?" She questions quietly as she yawns, her hands smoothing over my shoulders. My lips tilt up as I grab her hand and pull her towards me until I can bring her curled into my lap. The blanket on the back comes in handy as I wrap her up in it.

"I'm okay. I'm just used to waking at this time." I answer brushing my lips over her forehead. I feel her nod her head as one hand moves to rest over my chest, over my burns and over my heart.

"I thought you were out back."

I nod, "I thought about it but I haven't sat out here yet."

She smiles leaning up to place a soft kiss on my stubbled jaw but something from the corner of my eye catches my attention. I squint trying to make out what it is when it's so dark out and then my lips part in astonishment.

I whisper, "Baby look," and point over towards the trees along the edge of the hill. Eye's moving rapidly I watch as she turns to look to the side of us, her stays blank and I wait for the moment she can take out what it is.
