Chapter 15

Xiao Zhan's gut was telling him that it's obviously a bad day today and things were just starting. Heaving a sigh as he cautiously made his way inside the the building. First of all, he's avoiding, Seungyoun. Second is that he's also avoiding Yibo.

Just as he takes the turn at the near end of the hallway, he saw a familiar face. He knew it was a bad idea to keep walking but he already made eye contact with that person. "Aiya! Xiao Zhan!" Emily called out with a wide smile on her face. Xiao Zhan felt extremely uncomfortable and as much as he hates thinking about it, he thinks that it's not good to get too close with this girl.

Maybe it's because of what she did to Yibo- But hey, aren't they just the same? Fooling the same person? It made Xiao Zhan's stomach feel upset. Why is she in school anyway?

"Ah, hello, Emily," Zhan politely greeted with a short bow. "No need to be polite with me," she stopped in mid-sentence and gave another smile, showing her white teeth, "Wanna go and grab some lunch with me?" Xiao Zhan's mind was blaring with, don't-follow-her-don't-follow-her-

"That would be great," he forced out his words as he gave a small smile and Emily brightens in delight. "Let's go!" She said as she takes Xiao Zhan by the hand and quickly making their way at the cafeteria. There weren't a lot of people at the moment since it was actually still early before lunch, around 11 in the morning.

After taking their order, they sat at the farthest table. Xiao Zhan felt like he'll probably be interrogated with questions. "So Zhan, how did you meet Yibo?" She asked, looking directly at him. He already knew this was coming, "Ah, I actually met him in school."

"Really? How long have you two been dating?" She takes a bite at her sandwich and carefully wipes the corners of her mouth with a tissue. "Almost three months?" He said softly and Emily hums in reply. "Not to be rude, but I'm honestly surprised how Wang Yibo gave you the chance."

Xiao Zhan actually doesn't know what to say. Emily didn't wait for him to say anything as she continued, "Since he wasn't really serious at anyone. I hate to break it to you, but maybe, he's just using you to kill some time." Xiao Zhan felt anger swelling inside him but at the same time, sadness filled him. He felt angry because how could this girl say such awful things about Wang Yibo? But he felt sad since maybe she was right and Yibo was actually a jerk? But who was he to complain? Isn't he a jerk himself? Shrugging off such thoughts, he gave a low cough.

"Ah, is that so, how come you know that?" Xiao Zhan said and Emily was actually taken a back with his words. "Oh, if you didn't know, we were together at the same high school. He's always been like that," she said it so casually that Xiao Zhan didn't bother on believing her anymore.

"So I just wanna warn you as a friend, okay?" She tried reassuring him with a smile as her eyes squints for a bit that had Xiao Zhan feeling uncomfortable. "Um, thanks, I guess?"

"You're always welcome! And oh my, I never really introduced myself since last Friday! I'm Emily Qi," she gave him another smile and Xiao Zhan returns the smile with a small one. "It's okay, everyone is busy."

"Sorry for interrupting you last time with your boyfriend. I just can't help myself by being excited on sharing him the news that I'm transfering here at this university." Emily explained as she clasped her hands together. Xiao Zhan was feeling worse than before. It seems like things are going a bit harder. The fact that now Emily's always around, Xiao Zhan wouldn't have the time to confess.

"It's alright, it's not a big deal-"

"Emily Qi, what are you doing here?" Another woman's voice said with a hint of annoyance behind Xiao Zhan. He knew who it was and couldn't help but let his heart started thumping. Emily looks up and there was an obvious frown on her face upon seeing who it was. "Ah, Li Qin, hello. Good old friend."

Xiao Zhan felt the tension between the two girls and couldn't help but shrink for a bit on his seat. "Can you please excuse us? I have something to discuss with Zhan," before Emily or Xiao Zhan could react, he was already been dragged by Li Qin outside the cafeteria. As they have a good distance with other people, Li Qin lets go of Xiao Zhan's wrist and heaves a sigh.

"Oh my God, no matter what happens, don't get close to her," she said worriedly. Does Li Qin also knows about Yibo's situation? Well, that's not something to be surprised about, they're childhood friends after all, that's what he heard from Seungyoun. "Did something happen between you two?"

"Well, no- Kinda, I just don't like her. If I was a bitch-" Xiao Zhan frowns and immediately cuts her off. "You're not." Li Qin chuckles and playfully bumps Xiao Zhan's shoulder. "Oh you're too nice. Okay, let me phrase that again, if I was bad, she's in a worse state that me, got it?"

"Is it also because of Yibo?" he whispered and Li Qin couldn't help but reply a sad smile. "Yeah, I don't want to see my childhood friend getting heartbroken again."

Xiao Zhan felt guilty once more. Soon, he'll be labeled as an enemy, especially to the girl he once loved. "Well, I need to go, my gals are waiting for me. See you later, Zhan!" Li Qin said as she waves goodbye at him and Xiao Zhan waves back with a slight smile.

"And I've lost my appetite once more," he whispered to himself and as he turned around, his nose was directly hit at something, basically, someone. He groaned in pain as he held his nose and slowly looks at the person he bumped into.

"As expected," Seungyoun said with a sigh and Xiao Zhan felt immediately nervous. "Ah, Seungyoun," he whispered as he takes a step back.

"As much as I want you to tell him soon, I'm not butting in this time. You're a good guy and you don't really mean any harm," Seungyoun said as he looks over the older man. "I just hope you could tell him soon since it will literally turn into a huge mess later on, especially that Emily's here," he whispered and Xiao Zhan doesn't know what to say. "Seungyoun, I'm really sorry. I don't want to drag things any longer, too," Xiao Zhan sadly replied as he clenches his fists.

"I was about to tell him about it yesterday but miss Emily," he lowered his voice as he mentioned the name and Seungyoun heaves another sigh. "I can't help you directly anymore since Yibo will probably get angry, I'll only help in the shadows this time."

Xiao Zhan gave a dry chuckle, "Thank you, Seungyoun. It's a big help already."

"It's nothing to be thankful about, well, I have to go, Wooseok's probably waiting for me," Xiao Zhan nods his head in agreement as he bid the younger farewell. He didn't really expect things will turn out that way, he actually thought Seungyoun would burst in anger and scold him. Wang Yibo really does have a lot of good friends around him.

If only Xiao Zhan never appeared in his life, everything would have been fine.
